Today, I tried to have a game night at my house. Suggesting a popular card game that everyone plays, snacks, and BYOB. No one showed or even said they weren't coming. FML

Today, after none of my friends who said they'd be at the Jackbox game night I was hosting showed up on the Zoom call, I heard a knock at the door. All of them thought it was in person at my place, which is a mess. FML
Today, everyone at work was demanding I stage a party at my house. I agreed to it and rushed home to tidy up before the guests arrived. No one showed up. FML
Today, I invited a bunch of friends over to hang out and watch a movie. It's been two hours since everyone was supposed to turn up, and no one has showed. Thanks, friends. FML
Today, I organized a party at my place, invited 20 people, bought snacks and cancelled my workout. Nobody showed up. I ended up eating a whole ciabatta alone. FML

Today, it was my second day of house-sitting. I was so out of my mind from not seeing people that I invited a bunch of friends over for dinner. I said I would pay for pizza and we could all hang out in the house. Even with an unsupervised house and free food, no one showed. FML
Today, I attended a party, thinking it was hosted by my friend. I showed up, mingled, had some drinks, and even played a couple of games. After about an hour, my friend called me and asked where I was. I'd crashed the wrong party. Everyone there was nice about it, but now I can never show my face there again. FML
Today, I'd arranged a family reunion to see family I hadn't seen in years. Out of about 20 people, only 3 said they would come. One messaged to cancel the night before. The other two no-showed. FML
Today, I posted an event to have a get together with friends. Most of them put "not attending". I hadn't even set the date. FML
Today, it's my birthday and I'd invited quite a lot of my friends to come round and have some fun. When I got home, I saw a few cars outside. It turned out to be for the neighbours. I waited and waited; none of my friends showed up. FML

There's so much missing framework here. How did you suggest it? Random post on social media vs. while everyone was sitting together makes a huge difference. Did people actually agree to come? People only not saying that they're not coming doesn't mean they're coming when they didn't agree to it in the first place, especially if it was on short notice.

People only not saying that they're not coming doesn't mean they're coming when they didn't agree to it in the first place, especially if it was on short notice.

Im going to get crazy and say that there's a positive side to this. When I had just turned 18, I was very excited about a concert. maybe 8 people were supposed to go. One suddenly had to work, another broke an arm, another got sick, etc. I'd like to think they were all truthful, and I was a stubborn teenager and went by myself to a concert with 127 thousand people. I randomly met my best friend that day who also ended up by himself. we've been best friends for over 20 years now! If any of our friends had showed up we wouldn't have such an incredible friendship. And sometimes every single person really does have a problem that prevents them from showing up! Your situation is a little more drab, but who knows, maybe something bad would have happened or maybe something good will come out of them not showing up 😉😉😉😉😉😉
