Today, I once again told my son he needed a job and a girlfriend because I simply could not keep him in my house anymore. He yelled, "No, I can do whatever I want!" Then went back to playing video games. He's 38. FML

Today, despite the fact that I've lived alone for four years, and have a well-paid job, my father is still whining about, "Why am I still playing video games at age 32?" FML
Today, after my husband yet again failed to complete his To-Do list, I took away his Xbox and PlayStation and told him he could have them back once the list was done. He stared at me and said, "No. You're not my mother. Give them back and we will talk like adults." FML
Today, my son is going through a rebellious phase. He's taken to wearing leather and chains, listening to death metal music all day in his room alone, and screaming at me in public places. He was fired from his part-time job for swearing at customers. My son is 29 years old. FML
Today, my son apparently has no interest in having a life. He goes from his tiny one-bed flat to work, then back home again to play with his computer. It’s a good job, so he can afford a life, but he has no friends, never dates or goes anywhere, he even gets his shopping delivered. What can I do? FML
Today, I found out my son has been sneaking out of his room at night to see his girlfriend. He's a fully-grown 23-year-old man with a job and his own car. He doesn't need to sneak out. What an idiot. FML
Today, my son had a screaming meltdown because I told him to clean his own room and that I refuse to be treated like his personal maid. He’s 16. FML
Today, in response to the guy whose son told him to fuck off for disturbing his one day off a week, my son spent literally his entire savings account for a deposit on a shitbox one bedroom house because he’s sick of his dad finding him things to do every ten minutes, and I don’t even blame him. FML
Today, my son screamed at me to fuck off. Apparently, because he only gets one day off a week, he’s sick of me saving up all my projects and forcing him to help me on that one day. He’s now barricaded himself in his room with a big DO IT YOURSELF on the door. FML
Today, I learned that my wife lets our son play video games while I'm at work to "keep him out of her hair." We had agreed that he was forbidden from gaming until his grades came up, but apparently she can't be bothered to actually parent. FML
Today, my son told me he's had 5 boyfriends and is currently working to improve himself before getting into another relationship. When I was his age, I was still single. My son has more game than I do. FML

Your sons life has no meaning! He's almost 40, now that's pathetic. Move his video game system outside, he'll follow then lock the door! Problem solved.

So, did the son have a job and just moved back recently, or is he such a loser that hes been in the basement this whole time? If the first, start charging him reny and utilities. Back off on the gf though--he is obviously too undatable at the moment. If the latter, tell him it is time to move.

I'm guessing that he is bigger than you and a bit of an alpha dog in the house. Only a meek mother would not have thrown him out already. He has no fear of you nor respect for you. Trying to throw him out (as others have suggested) might end up in violence against you. Parasites wont willingly dislodge without damage to the host. If he were (by some freak chance) to find a bimbo with low standards and her own place who finds unemployed video game addicts who still live with their mom at age 38 the least bit attractive then he might be compelled to detach his parasitic fangs from your neck and latch on to hers. That way he could mooch AND get laid. It wont last. He'll be back... and angry. Needless to say, it is VERY likely that you let him live there all this time because you are getting something out of it, whether you acknowledge it or not. You probably need company and fear solitude. I'll bet his father was an abusive drunk. That's where he learned to disrespect you and become a gaming addict. But the precedent has been set. Since you are not strong enough to shame, persuade or force him to leave, then YOU will have to leave. Dont move in with another man. You attract parasitic men like flies and could very easily end up in a physically abusive situation. You shouldn't be dating at all. Hunt for another home in another town with one bedroom just for you. Pay to break your lease or sell at a low price. Then one day, pack up all of your stuff and leave. Dont tell him where or when. Just do it. If he finds you dont let him in, ever. Call the cops if necessary. If that is too emotionally difficult then find a women's shelter that you can stay in. You ARE a victim of domestic violence whether you know it or not. He holds you hostage with dominance and fear. A shelter will give you protection and a way out. You are not doing him (or you) any favors by letting him bleed you dry. Your obligation to him as a mother is done. Now you need to attend to yourself... without him. Dont feel bad about it. You have already given him too much. He needs to sink or swim. Most likely he will find said bimbo with low standards on his own. Better her than you.
