Today, I'm a barista at Starbucks. When my crush walked in and asked how much his coffee would cost, I said a date. He said he'd rather pay for the coffee. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
The date from hell #5676
Today, I went on an a date with a guy I met online. We were waiting in line at Starbucks when he turned to me and said, "Do you want anything?" Just before I was about to answer, he practically shoved in front of me and paid for himself. The cashier looked more horrified than I did. FML
Today, I worked up the courage to ask my crush out for coffee after work. She agreed and I confidently said, "Alright, it's a date!" She replied, "Haha, a date with you? I'm just going for the free coffee!" FML
Today, I was getting coffee with my aunt, and she asked me to pay. She then turned to the Barista and said, "He's never had a girlfriend before, and I wanted to show him that they take your money." The Barista laughed so hard she had to excuse herself. FML
Fight or flight
Today, I went to my favorite coffee shop, ordered my usual, smiled at the barista I have a crush on, and confidently said, "You too!" when they told me to enjoy my drink. I have to find a new coffee shop. FML
Today, I emailed the guy I like to ask him on a coffee date. He responded, declining by telling me he never drinks coffee. We met at Starbucks. FML
Smooth
Today, I tried to flirt with the cute barista by pretending to know a lot about coffee. I said, “I’ll take a macchiato, extra creamy.” He smiled and said, “That’s… not a thing.” I panicked and said, “Neither is my love life.” FML
Misunderstood
Today, I went out for coffee with my sister and my crush. I spent the majority of the date flirting with my crush, and when he dropped us off at home, I told him I had fun on our date. He looked at me surprised and said he'd thought I'd tagged along on his date with my sister. FML
Smooth
Today, I went on a coffee date with the man I've been in love with for a while. Before I knew what was going on, he'd started chatting up a pretty girl sitting nearby. I had to drink my coffee alone while he got her number. FML
Masterful gambit
Today, a cute guy asked me out for coffee. I like him but didn't want it to be easy, so I said, "Coffee dates are for broke bums, aim a little higher." He said, "Aight I will, peace out" and walked off. FML
Today, I went with my dad to Starbucks. There is this really cute guy who works there and he kept looking over at me, so I went over to say hi. He ended up asking if my dad was single. FML

On the one hand I feel like that's a really clever and confident way of asking but on the other I always see people on here complaining about how women get hit on while trying to go about their day (e.g. buying a coffee) and yet no one seems to be complaining here...

It's also a little different if you already know the person? He wasn't a random guy, she knew him

Ouch! That hurts man

At least you tried! That's good. But he really didn't have to be so rude about it. Sucks.

Maybe he was in a rush or not having a good day! Plus he may not realize how brash he sounded. Don't despair, OP. If you know he is a good guy and you feel he's worth your time you can always try again tomorrow!

why would she need to ask again? he basically said no the first time. let's not start harassing him into saying yes when he obviously doesn't want to. OP just let it alone and find someone new.

Trying again tomorrow would just come across as desperate and annoying. Saying no doesn't mean he isn't a good guy.

Yeah, let's just continue with the unprofessional behavior at work until the guy is creeped out and complains to the manager.

Props to you for having the courage to ask him! It's his loss

Flirting with people while on one's job, especially when you don't know whether they like you or not, seems quite unprofessional and annoying...

I don't know - I think in films and tv it happens a lot, and although it isn't a basis for real-life, sometimes we model our actions on these things if we don't have much to go on. I don't see anything wrong with it - I imagine lots of people meet this way, just sometimes it works and other times it doesn't and that is okay. As long as OP doesn't do it to every guy I don't see how it is a bad thing.

At least now you know. People that lead others on are dicks
sweetpotato301 7
But how did he lead her on at all? He was literally just trying to buy coffee

I don't think you understand what 'leading on' means...

Goddamn that was smooth, OP.

He might still like you, but it isn't really the right time to ask him, considering he just wanted to get a drink. Dates are expensive, too.

He either has a gf or he's a fucktard. Either way he's no good for ya.Slick pick up line too. I woulda said yes

-.- or he just happens to not want to date OP? Which is totally fine.

Maybe he's just not interested. Did that not occur to you? The guy just wanted some damn coffee.
