Today, I had to hand write a 10 page essay for one of my classes. When I turned it in I got an automatic zero. It was written in blue. Not black. FML

Today, I went to check my grade, which was posted for an essay for my comp 1 class. I got a zero. I was devastated only to find out I never actually clicked the submit document button. My grade dropped 20 points. FML
Today, after turning in a paper that I worked really hard on, I got it back with a grade of 0. In the feedback section, my professor wrote: “In all my 37 years of teaching, this is by far the worst essay I have ever read.” FML
Today, I broke my dominant hand. My teacher insists we hand-write our essays. I called and asked if it was okay for me to type up the essays. She said no. I have two essays due tomorrow, which count for half my grade. FML
Today, I turned in my homework. Too bad I accidentally handed in the printed answer sheet I found online to copy from. FML
Today, my teacher told me that she couldn't find my hand-written essay on the Renaissance, and that I have to re-do it all by tomorrow. I later saw my essay on her desk, covered in a massive coffee stain that made virtually everything unreadable. FML
Today, I asked my professor what happened to the assignment I gave him several weeks ago. Turns out he lost it, and graded me zero as a result. Now if I want a mark, he says I'll have to hand-write it all over again, but that I "probably shouldn't bother," because it was "a bit shit, really." FML
Today, I tried to turn in a final exam online. When I went to check if it had been submitted, Blackboard told me it did. My grade told a different story. FML
Today, I had my teacher look over my essay before turning it in. He said it was extremely well-written, so I handed it in. When I got it back, the feedback he left said it was one of the worst essays he'd ever read. FML
Today I woke up feeling good and ready for my online business class final, only to find that it had somehow been submitted and graded with a zero. FML
Today, I got a writing assignment back. After meeting with my professor specially after class and meticulously combing through every word of that paper, I got a low D. Turns out, he graded me down on every suggestion of his that I took. FML

Regardless, blue or black ink is still easy on the eyes, and it is ridiculous to fail a student for something so small. A few points off maybe. But really? Fail? The point of education is to teach you and prove that you are learning. Not destroy hours of hard work because of ink color. In the end, their education is the same and their grade should reflect their effort. Now if it were pink ink, I could understand. And why the hell was this not typed?

My french teacher last year did that...and she only ever mentioned that kind of thing once. and she took off full points if you didn't space it right. Or didn't draw lines on the page at certain areas.

At my highschool, when you are a sophmore, junior and senior, you have to do a research paper, which is 10 pages.. In senior year, we have to write a 28 page essay on Sacco and Vanzetti...

This will come in handy if you're ever writing contracts. Most times the contracts stipulate the color of pen that must be used. If you don't use that color, the contract could be voided.
