Today, I had a job interview where I was asked, "Who is your best friend?" I replied truthfully, "My cat", only to then be asked what my cat would describe as my best qualities, which didn't go far beyond, "Remembering to feed him". They weren't impressed. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Unprepared
Today, during a job interview, I was asked to describe myself in three words. My mind went blank, so I panicked and blurted out, “Hungry, sleepy and… flexible?” The interviewer raised an eyebrow and said, “That's not the worst answer I've ever gotten but… come on.” I didn’t get the job. FML
Hobbies and Interests
Today, after being unemployed for the last year, I finally got an interview. When they asked me my favorite pastime, I panicked and said, "Dancing with my cat." I guess I won’t be hearing from them anytime soon. FML
Today, I told my best friend that I liked him and have liked him for a long time. His response was "That's cool. So, when did you get a cat?" FML
Prove it!
Today, in the midst of an interview, I was asked what my best qualities are. I panicked and quickly responded that I can make a great Pikachu impression. They wanted to hear it. FML
Life imitates life
Today, I went to a job interview and had a brilliant answer prepared for a common job interview question, but as soon as the interviewer asked what my main qualities were, my mind went blank and I blurted out, "I like turtles." FML
Cats rule
Today, I was talking to my boss about dogs and cats. I'm a dog person; he's a cat person. He told me that he likes cats better, because they are laid back and don't do anything all day. Before I could stop myself, I blurted out, "Just like you?" FML
Stellar performance
Today, I was being interviewed for an amazing job when I was asked what animal I would describe myself as. Trying to be prompt, I picked the first thing that came to me. I responded with, "I'd be a turtle because I'm really slow sometimes." FML
Fur suit
Today, I rushed to a job interview, but my cat rubbed against me, covering my suit in fur. I grabbed a lint roller, tripped over the cat, and knocked out a front tooth. I showed up sweaty, disheveled, and missing a tooth. I didn’t get the job. FML
Single and ready to Pringle
Today, I went to a family gathering and was asked by multiple relatives why I was still single. Trying to lighten the mood, I joked that in fact I do have a secret admirer. My little cousin yelled out, "Is it your cat?" He was right, even though, come to think about it, I'm not sure my cat even likes me all that much. FML
Clueless
Today, I went to an important job interview, only to be told I'm not what such a "prestigious" company was looking for. This from a pimply-faced 20-something who took a personal call on speakerphone mid-interview, and actually said "LMAO" out loud at his friend's joke. FML

But most importantly, your cat is impressed.

Interviews are tough. I'm going through it right now, myself. At least you have a good story to tell. Keep your head up and keep searching on!

"Patience. I still put up with him even though he poops in a box all the time, refuses to get a job to help pay rent, and constantly knocks things over just to be dramatic and get my attention."

An interview has 3 purposes. 1) to test your cognitive abilities. Usually this is done by asking logic questions. 2) to see if you are the right fit for the job. Normally you are asked questions pertaining to your position or you are given a scenario to solve. 3) to see if you are someone who would fit into the workplace and get along with other coworkers. AKA your social and reasoning skills. Normally this is a judgement call by the interviewer that is biased on the first impression you've made. By answering the questions the way you did, you showed that you are lonely with a touch of desperation. It doesn't exactly scream "hire me" unless you applied for a position in the cat food aisle at petsmart.

"Lonely with a touch of desperation"? That's YOUR opinion #48. I see honesty, candour and responsibility in that answer, and I would have appreciated it more than some banality about school friends or drinking buddies, who "surprisingly" think "I'm fun to be with ".

Totally agree, #48. This isn't a cute internet profile for a high schooler. This is the real world, and no one wants to hire someone to interact with their customers who can't find real friends and says their only one is their cat.

Turn that into, my best friend is my cat, so it's not like I'm going clubbing and going into work hung over all the time.

You have to learn to be more creative on your feet. "I would say my best friend is my cat. My cat would describe me as a quick learner, great with minimal communication, and fun to be around."

"Well, he [my cat is male, so 'he'] trusts me with his life - that's a lot of responsibility I manage right there. I make sure he gets fed on a strict schedule, pamper him on demand, handle waste management in a safe, environmentally friendly, and timely manner. The fact that I can keep him purring while I'm trying to answer email at home shows my excellent abilities to keep clients happy. And my bravery is almost unheard of in today's corporate world, as can be attested by my cat when he needed oral antibiotics for a week. Did I mention my cat is not declawed? I provide for his needs with a scratching post and have trained him to use only it. That's right, I'm so good I can herd cats."

I feel like this is a YDI... You know damn well but interviews are going to be looking for. And someone with an unhealthy attachment to their cat is not one of them, and you definitely made it seem as though that's the case.
