Today, I got together a surprise party for my mom's birthday. I invited all her friends and her douchebag boyfriend who I don't get along with. When my mom got home, he took credit and got her friends to back him up with bribing. My mom said I'm selfish and horrible for not trying for her. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Birthday gift
Today, my mom thought it would be a good idea to bring my obnoxious ex to my birthday party. FML
Today, I discovered that the reason my mom hasn't been noticing the extra cleaning I've done lately is because her boyfriend took credit when she asked about it; and was rewarded for it in bed. I helped him get with my mom. FML
Today, I got yelled at by my mom for not being surprised enough at my surprise birthday party. She'd told me about it while drunk the night before. FML
Today, it's my mom's birthday. I woke up at midnight to be the first to tell her happy birthday. When I awoke in the morning, I decided to bake her a cake. Little did I know my whole family was going out to lunch to celebrate. I wasn't invited. FML
The cat's out of the bag
Today, my partner's mother and I had been planning a little surprise get-together for his birthday. A surprise weeks in the making was ruined by my dad asking, "Aren't you supposed to be going to (his parent's town name) this afternoon?" in front of him. Thanks dad. FML
Today, one of my boyfriend's friends ranted on about how I am such a crappy girlfriend and how all of his friends don't like me. I just spent over $200 on a surprise party that I invited them all to last weekend. FML
I hate surprises
Today, my family and friends threw a surprise birthday party for me, after I'd said multiple times that I didn't want one. I turned and left and now everybody is angry at me and calling me ungrateful and spoiled. FML
Yay!
Today, I got out of work, and just wanted to relax after a stressful day. Instead, I came home to a surprise birthday party that my boyfriend set up. My birthday isn't even until next week, and I secretly hate two of the people he invited. FML
Stay out of my life
Today, my mom tried to worm her way back into my life by manipulating my brother into doing the dirty work for her. I pretended to swallow the bullshit and invited her over, just so I could slam the door in her face. My brother says I went too far, like he somehow forgot what a shit mom she was. FML
Today, I was talking to my mom about how my fiancé has been ignoring me and that I didn't know why. Turns out, my mother told him that I was too much of a handful, was mentally disturbed and also cheating on him. Just so I wouldn't move out and would keep cleaning her house for free. FML

That's a lovely gesture for your mother OP! The truth will come out eventually... It's just incredibly selfish of him to take the credit.

I can't believe her mom did that... why would you not believe your daughter before others? If her daughter went through all of this for her mother, I would assume she was a good kid. I'm seriously puzzled right now...

well here is the thing, she is against her boyfriend and her friends, yes that's her daughter but people tend to believe a group of people more than just one person in this case quality lost over quantity

I'm sorry OP, maybe some of the honest friends will come forward for you?

Your heart is in the right place, and that's all that counts. Be humble & continue doing your best, regardless of receiving recognition or not. Eventually you will be rewarded as you should be; karma catches up with everyone.

Nice sentiment, but it doesn't.

I disagree. Try, try, and try again. Everything comes full circle eventually.

Karma is something you choose to believe in, like a God. So you'll understand why I don't believe in it. However, I do believe in "making" my own karma, if you know what I mean.

You did a good thing OP. Keep reminding yourself of that.

I'm sure you can whip up a nice "surprise" for that low-life as well. Be clever now OP.

That's a nice sentiment but it's been my experience that it just doesn't happen that way. There's a really good chance that the boyfriend made it look like he did plan everything and that OP was just following orders. There's an even better chance that the friends are just tolerating the boyfriend out of friendship for the mom and will not rock the boat. OP needs to give mom some time to cool off then sit her down and tell her the truth - then be prepared to not speak to mom for a good long time. Either that or let boyfriend keep treating OP like crap.

There has to be some kind of proof that you set up the surprise party! like maybe any receipts that you have for any supplies/cake/food that you bought, or any text messages that you sent out, if any!

It's amazing what people will do to someone for a dollar these days.

Next time just get video evidence and use it against his lying ass.

Kill him. It's the most loving thing you could ever do for your mother, whether she thinks it or not.
