Today, I gave my wife a $900 necklace as a special Christmas gift. She gave me a set of Star Wars pajamas. As it turns out, I was more excited to wear my gift than she was to wear hers. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I bought my girlfriend a very expensive necklace. I gave it to her thinking she'd be extremely happy. Instead she was mad at me because my gift for our anniversary was better than hers. FML
Today, for our 2-year anniversary, I bought my girlfriend a beautiful $400 necklace. She bought me a pink $5 shirt of Elton John riding a piano through space. FML
Sharing is caring
Today, after my wife just cashed in $160,000 in stock options, my Christmas present was two pairs of socks she bought with REI credit. I suppose it’s better than last year’s spatula. FML
Jumping the gun
Today, my wife ruined the gift I got for our 10 year anniversary by opening a package that was clearly addressed to me, finding the custom made necklace, and started wearing it straight away. I didn’t even know it had been delivered yet and boom, right there on her neck two weeks early. FML
It's the (saucy) thought that counts (or not)
Today, I surprised my wife with some new lingerie for our upcoming anniversary, thinking she would like it. Instead of a thank you, I got an ungrateful attitude from her instead. FML
Today, after buying my girlfriend a $700 bracelet for Christmas, I hinted that I wanted a pair of Oakleys. She told me I shouldn't get her anything and that I should expect even less. FML
Who? Where?
Today, my husband bought me a beautiful pair of earrings for my birthday, to match the necklace he'd spent months searching for online the previous year. What necklace? He gave me a watch he found at Walmart last year. I wonder who the lucky girl with the necklace is. FML
Today, because it was our first Christmas as a couple, I was careful to get my girlfriend what I considered to be a very thoughtful gift. She opened it, took one look at it, made a face like I'd just kicked a puppy, and told me that in future it would be better if I just gave her money so she could buy her own presents. FML
Rich people problems
Today, I got a gift from my wife. It was a beautiful watch. The same exact watch I'd sold to our local jewelers for 6k. She bought it for 10k. When I told her, she said, "Hmmm, I thought it looked familiar." There goes 4K from our joint account. I could’ve thought of 4000 ways to spend that money. FML
It's the thought that counts, or something
Today, I gave a girl I like a $200 diamond necklace to express how much she means to me. She gave me a hug and told me she didn't want to lose me as a friend. Nor did she want to lose her new necklace. Today, I got a $200 hug. FML

TBH I would not be excited about wearing $900 either. That's a lot of money wasted if it's lost or broken. Also, I think it's more exciting to go pick out jewelry together than have him just show up with something he hopes I like. I think most jewelry is a joke, so chances are anything someone else picks out for me would be something that is hideous or looks like costume jewelry.

exactly what I was thinking you spent more but she got a gift u'd actually like it was probably a **** ugly necklace with expensive stones

Quacky is right. OP, you totally deserved it for spending waaaaaaaay too much money on a surprise present. If you want to buy something without knowing whether she likes it or not, keep it cheap. You can't expect her to like something just for the price. Besides, be happy, if I was your wife, my (and that makes also your) day would be ruined by your present. Not only would I be so damn afraid to lose something that expensive, but I would also be so ******* sad because my gifts would look really cheap next to yours. It isn't about the money, OP, obviously you don't realise that.

Do they match the star wars underoos you probably also own? I have never spent $900 on jewelry, its just not worth it because they probably only wear it a few times a year because they are afraid it will get ripped off or lost.

not nessacerly i am a guy, not rich, 15 years old and I walk around with around $1000 worth of jewelry every day. don't say I'm spoiled either, most of it I worked and made money to buy them or my grandmother gave me years and years ago. 2 of the chains I wear I've had for 7 years

Nobody is going to try and steal them off you because the chances are, $1000 worth of jewellery is going to look fake on a 15yo. Just saying.

And to think, you could have saved that $1,000 for something important, like a car or college!
