Today, I found out that my best friend is being sacked. He's also about to rent a new apartment which he won't be able to afford when he loses his job. I can't warn him or I'll breach confidentiality and lose my job as well. FML

Today, my best friend was fired from the place we both work at because she's a bad employee. After they fired her she said, "If I go, I'm taking my best friend with me." So they fired me too. I actually liked that job. FML
Today, upon applying for a new job to leave my old crappy job I was informed by my new potential employer that he was unable to hire me because he is friends with my current boss. FML
Today, I found out that a coworker and I may get laid off soon, all because my boss's niece told him she can do both our jobs all by herself, and for less money. FML
Today, my boss found out I had applied for a much better paying job. He told me I'd do a better job and make more money there. Then he fired me. FML
Today, I found out that my girlfriend has been cheating on me. I also found out that my best friend knew about it all along. When I confronted him, he tried to justify the betrayal by saying that she paid him to keep quiet. FML
Today, after moving in with a friend I've known for 9 years, I found out he's going to jail soon, and refuses to work or get a new job, making me unable to pay rent as he eats all my food. FML
Today, I found out that after three years of telling my boss our strategy wasn't going to work, that I was right - it didn't work. I also found out that because it didn't work, I lost my job. My boss still has his. FML
Today, I found out my best friend has been stealing hundreds of dollars from me and my fiancé. My wedding is tomorrow morning. Guess who my best man is. FML
Today, after finally getting a job offer after months of unemployment, I found out that the person who was going to hire me got fired. Which means I'm not getting the job. FML
Today, it's been five days since I started my new job in a new town, and just signed the lease on my new apartment too. Now I find out the company's closing down, and since I'm still on probation, I'm told I'm not entitled to any kind of severance. FML

if it's your best friend I'm sure he wouldn't rat you out or anything. especially if you tell him your own job is in jeopardy for saying it. I, personally, would find a way to let them know so on his work record it shows he quit rather than got fired

If you get fired, you can get severance pay and file for unemployment, but, if you quit, you get nothing.

I know I might sound stupid, but you should tell him, but when you tell him, tell him it slowly, and you are telling him this for your friendship. You might want to break it to him carefully, so he doesn't get angry with you (but if he really is your best friend, then I doubt he will and he most likely will understand) and invite him to your place. I know the job is important, but your friendship is too, and if he finds out that you didn't tell him when you knew, that would probably crush your friendship. No pressure OP, but whatever choice you choose, it's your choice. Good luck!

Just advise him against renting the apartment! Put yourself in his shoes and think how you would feel if he had that info all along. And think how you will feel after he is sacked and starts financially struggling to keep the apartment. I'm sure if you explain it to him the right way, he will understand that you are taking a huge risk for your friendship's sake.

If he's your best friend, approach him and convince him not to loan it and tell him he really needs to just trust you. Technically you wouldn't be breaching confidentiality. Hopefully that might work.

Damn why don't you write it down as a subliminal somewhere and then deny it was you. Like find something in a book and highlight it and leave it open on his desk at his home or something so it's impossible to trace lol
