Today, I found out that my best friend is being sacked. He's also about to rent a new apartment which he won't be able to afford when he loses his job. I can't warn him or I'll breach confidentiality and lose my job as well. FML

Today, my best friend was fired from the place we both work at because she's a bad employee. After they fired her she said, "If I go, I'm taking my best friend with me." So they fired me too. I actually liked that job. FML
Today, upon applying for a new job to leave my old crappy job I was informed by my new potential employer that he was unable to hire me because he is friends with my current boss. FML
Today, I found out that a coworker and I may get laid off soon, all because my boss's niece told him she can do both our jobs all by herself, and for less money. FML
Today, my boss found out I had applied for a much better paying job. He told me I'd do a better job and make more money there. Then he fired me. FML
Today, I found out that my girlfriend has been cheating on me. I also found out that my best friend knew about it all along. When I confronted him, he tried to justify the betrayal by saying that she paid him to keep quiet. FML
Today, after moving in with a friend I've known for 9 years, I found out he's going to jail soon, and refuses to work or get a new job, making me unable to pay rent as he eats all my food. FML
Today, I found out that after three years of telling my boss our strategy wasn't going to work, that I was right - it didn't work. I also found out that because it didn't work, I lost my job. My boss still has his. FML
Today, I found out my best friend has been stealing hundreds of dollars from me and my fiancé. My wedding is tomorrow morning. Guess who my best man is. FML
Today, after finally getting a job offer after months of unemployment, I found out that the person who was going to hire me got fired. Which means I'm not getting the job. FML
Today, it's been five days since I started my new job in a new town, and just signed the lease on my new apartment too. Now I find out the company's closing down, and since I'm still on probation, I'm told I'm not entitled to any kind of severance. FML

Personally, I'd tell him anyway, that is if I could trust he wouldn't blab that I told him. But that's just me. I know this must be an agonizing situation for you. Ultimately you have to do what is best for you and your family first, and then do right by your friend only if you can. Good luck, and I hope everything works out for everyone involved. And, who knows? Maybe your friend will get an even better paying job. Stranger things have happened.

if it were me in that situation i would tell him right away breach or no breach, companies that force you to sign a confidentially agreement are just downright sketchy in my book and you'd be better off finding a new company to work for that won't make you sign such a ridiculous contract in the end you owe it to your friends to spare them from a difficult financial situation

im saying that you should always be loyal to your friends, confidentiality contracts are a load of crock in my opinion if you're aware that a trusted friend is in danger of being fired you should give them a heads up so they can prepare themselves by looking for another job

I'm going to go ahead and point out the fact that you have no idea why the person is being fired. Could be entirely legitimate. Confidentiality agreements are there to ensure no backlash and are not "sketchy" but smart business practices.

I'm only a cashier and I had to sign one. It's so things like stock value and revenue and sales and marketing strategies can't be leaked to competitors.
