Today, I flew home from college to see my parents. Later I found the expensive painting and hand-made necklace I mailed to my mom for mother's day while taking out the trash. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I came back from college and visited my parents house. There was a new family portrait hung over the mantel of my parents and 2 sisters. My mom had always wanted one but always postponed it. It was dated the day after I left for college. FML
Today, after I got home from school I went to my room to find the maid had cleaned it, also to find a bag labeled "trash" it was all the sketches and paintings I had done in art class, which is my major plan for college. FML
Today, after spending $120 to have a bouquet of flowers delivered to my mom, she called to complain that I had forgotten about her for Mother's day, but also praise my sister for apparently receiving my flowers I sent at the door and passing them off as hers. FML
Never enough, never
Today, after I took my mom her favourite wine, a card, and an expensive orchid for her conservatory, and also spent all Saturday afternoon with her and took her out for lunch, what did she post on Facebook? Her disappointment that I didn’t spend Mother’s Day with her on Sunday because I was working. FML
Today, I received the 'special' present my mother had sent me for my 21st birthday. I opened the box and saw that my mother had picked out, accessorized and shipped to me, in college, a doll. FML
Today, I found out where a few of my favorite outfits went. My mother had taken them out of my closet, wrapped them, and given them to my cousin as a gift. FML
Today, I found a necklace that my parents had made for me. While looking at it, I realized my parents had spelled my name wrong. FML
Get Out
Today, I came home to find that my mother had cleaned my room, and she'd done a very good job, too. So good in fact, that she even managed to remove all of the furniture, replacing it with a note that said, "It's time to go, sweetie XO". FML
Awww, sweetie
Today, I took my mom out to a fancy restaurant, and spent close to $300 on her Mother's Day present. Later, my little brother drew her a card with crayons on pink construction paper. She cried. He's 20 years-old. FML
Losing my mind
Today, my mom and I were talking about a wedding decoration that we are going to use at my wedding. I insisted that I gave the decorations to her and I didn’t bother looking in my house. She came over for the night and cleaned while I was at work. She found the decorations that I'd insisted that I'd given to her. FML

Wow, your mother sounds like a real bitch. That's just terrible.

You have a good reason to not buy her anything ever again now.

I should be the asshole and say that OP didn't mention where he/she (presumably she) saw the stuff. Perhaps it was on a shelf in the garage as she was taking out the trash, haha. Jk.

At least you sound like a nice son (or daughter). An expensive painting, hand made necklace AND taking out their trash. Good for you :) sorry about your rude mom though

That sucks. I guess you'll be saving some money by not getting her nice presents next year.

Some parents just don't care about home made gifts.

Did she know it was hand-made? Because hand-made things tend to look shitty. The only reason people keep it is because they know it's hand-made which makes it "special."

Wow. That was cruel. I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. It doesn't matter whether she liked it or not. Parents have an obligation to love what their children give to them, and treasure those things. Who else in the world is going to make them feel appreciated and loved if not their parents first? Maybe next year you could give her a coupon for a parenting class.

Number 17, what you said was mean, but because you made me laugh, I'm not going to give you a hard time. ;)
