Today, I finally got medication to deal with my seizures. I've had them since I was 5, but my mother had always believed I was faking it. When I seized during a basketball game, she actually came onto the court and lectured the referee for "humoring" me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
You what now?
Today, I had a seizure. My dad responded by saying it always happens with my disease. I never have had a disease. Now I have to wait for my dad to stop yelling at my mom about not telling me, so I can ask what I have in the first place. FML
Method
Today, my 13 year-old son had a seizure in the middle of his history class. We were at the hospital for three hours and several expensive tests later he informed me he faked the seizure so he could get out of a group presentation. He was so proud that he was such a good actor. FML
Grounded
Today, I had a seizure while at the airport, ready to go on vacation with my family. We ended up missing our flight. My mom spent most of the ride home making cracks about how I'm always ruining things with my "dramatics". Sorry that I have epilepsy, mom. FML
Occam's razor
Today, I had a seizure, and as they were loading me into the ambulance, drooling on myself, I clearly heard my mother ask the ambulance crew if they’d mind swinging by the church on the way to the hospital, you know, in case it turns out I’m not sick, just possessed by the devil. FML
Today, I had RA training and we were doing mock situations. During one of these, I had a seizure. Everyone thought it was fake, until I started violently throwing up. FML
Today, I actually had to reassure the girl I'm seeing that she can't "catch" my epilepsy. FML
You OK, hun?
Today, I had a seizure in class. Being an epileptic, I had warned my professor of the possibility that I could have one in class. She was understanding and seemed very concerned about my issue at the time. After I had the seizure, however, she asked me if I had ever tried exorcism. FML
PANIC!
Today, my dad had a seizure just after taking his anti-seizure medicine and having been seizure-free for two and a half months. Did I mention I was pooping while my poor dad was having this? I ran out with my pants around my ankles, due to my stepmom flipping out, screaming at me to find the phone (which she found). FML
Today, I finally went to the doctor's about my severe anxiety. I'm so used to putting on a happy performance around people that she didn't believe anything was wrong with me. FML
Toxic workplace
Today, I had a seizure for the first time in months. My fiancé went over to my job to let them know I wouldn't be going in. My boss bitched both of us because I didn't call myself. Sure, I'll get right on that when I'm conscious. FML

... How the **** did your mom not get reported to Child Protective Services for medical neglect or at LEAST child endangerment? She could have bloody well killed you, and the fact you've had one seizure in public means you almost certainly have had others. And it's hard to imagine at least SOME of them would have occurred during school, which should have had you taken to the infirmary and quite likely the hospital! Was everyone around you that should have protected you from your crazy ass mother so stupid as to believe her accusations, or were they too lazy to give a ****? I'm glad you've got medicine to keep the seizures more controlled, OP. I do strongly suggest keeping them on you at all times so your mom can't throw them away with the "logic" that you don't need them because you are faking. Hell, it sounds like your mother would benefit from some medicine of her own- more specifically, maybe some antipsychotics would drag her head out of the clouds and back down to reality. Hopefully BEFORE she starts doing something even more dangerous.

So sorry OP. My now ex-wife was the same way as your mother. and I endured a broken neck and a fractured back in seizures in 2002 and 2005. She asked for a divorce the day i was diagnosed as epileptic. Take your meds, follow your docs directions and before you know it you will be doing so much better. I am entering my 15th month on my anti-convulsives and am almost 5 months seizure free.
