Today, I finally got a restraining order against my violent ex. My mom now keeps finding ways to tell me how shitty I am for breaking the "poor boy's" heart and how I didn't deserve him anyway. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Stay away from me
Today, my restraining order against my mother, who literally tried to murder me when I was 8 to prevent my dad from getting full custody of me, was denied. FML
I did warn you…
Today, my mom came to me, hysterically crying that her boyfriend had hit and choked her. I’d feel bad for her except he’s my ex who also beat me, yet when I turned to my mother for help she decided to take him in instead and get pregnant with his kid. What goes around comes around bitch! FML
Today, after I had changed my number to get away from my abusive ex, my mom decided to give him my new one. She insists that I need to give him another chance. FML
Today, my mom told my abusive ex-boyfriend, whom I broke up with 5 days ago, that he is always welcome at my house. She "misses him". FML
Stand up for yourself
Today, I overheard my mom’s boyfriend viciously berating and verbally abusing her. I got in his face and started yelling that he can’t talk to her that way. He stormed out and we haven’t heard from him since. Now my mom is pissed and wants to kick me out for “ruining” her relationship. Sorry I guess. FML
Leave me alone
Today, I had to serve my boyfriend's father with a restraining order. FML
Corruption
Today, my boyfriend just told me that his mom told him to break up with me, and that she would pay him to do it. His mom is a bitch. FML
Fatherly love
Today, I finally had it out with my abusive father. I spent almost an hour detailing about how he constantly humiliates me in public, treats me like slime, and hits me at random when he's in a bad mood. His response was, "Quit being such a wimp" because I'm "not female." Mom took his side. I'm 16 and can't move out. FML
Catch 22
Today, I found out I have a restraining order against me from my ex boyfriend. Apparently, I drive by his house too much and it is considered stalking. He forgot that I live 2 houses down, and MUST drive by his house to get home. FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me because she's afraid of my ex-wife. This is the third one in a row to use that very reason. The judge still won't accept my pleas for a restraining order. FML

don't let her get into your head, you're a very brave person for getting the police involved. you did the right thing no matter what she says

Don't let it get to you. What went on behind closed doors between you & him & your safety is what matters. Your mom sees things from one side & from the sounds of it he obviously made an effort to give others one impression & treat you another way

Maybe you should file one against your mom, too. OP, good for you for getting away and standing your ground. Tell your mom to shove it where the sun don't shine, or you're never seeing her again, either.

To the people down voting #14, it's often people like OP's mother that help abusive ex's perpetuate the abuse. #14 may have put it harshly, but OP needs to protect herself from her mother, too. She may be clueless rather than a bitch, but she's dangerous either way.

Don't listen to her, that's all you can do babe. Not everything that comes put of her mouth is right

She's right. You don't deserve him. You deserve someone better than him.

I seriously would not talk to my mother if she told me that other than the question, do you think abuse is ok?

I don't know if you're living with your mom now, but if you aren't, you need to try to stay away from her. She is only adding to your problems, so you don't need that in your life. Stay strong, OP.

I fully agree OP needs to stay away from her mom for many reasons. One, when you escape an abusive and/or violent relationship, you need a network of supportive people around you who will keep you safe. Your mom is not supportive at all. Two, if your mom really thinks better of asshole ex than you, she may give him tabs on where you are and what you're doing. A restraining order only goes so far. Stay safe, OP. And your mom's right: You deserve better than some violent asshole.

That's a disgusting way for her to behave. Don't listen to a word of it nobody should be with someone who is abusive in anyway and its the best thing in the world you are away from someone who would treat you like that. Hopefully the sick bastard is suffering.

Op, regardless of what your mother says though I can't imagine it doesn't hurt still, you were brave by doing what you did! I think that your idiot ex suffering a "broken heart" isn't nearly as bad as the suffering you've already endured and you could have faced in the future had you not sought help to get out of that situation!! Be proud for making such a brave decision!

She's right... nobody deserves to be in an abusive relationship.
