Today, I was pulled over and given a ticket for a broken tail light. On the way to the mechanic. To get my tail light fixed. FML
Today, I was driving home from work when I was pulled over by a cop. She asked why I was being pulled over and figuring she knew I said, "For swerving because of my alcohol problem." I had a broken tail light. FML
Today, I got pulled over for a busted tail light. The officer gave me a warning and told me to fix it. Ten minutes later I was pulled over again for the same busted tail light by the same cop. This time he wrote me a ticket. FML
Today, I received a ticket for not having my headlights on. The cop who pulled me over had a broken headlight. FML
Today, the blinker on my car was broken so I decided to play it safe and drive a different car to work. I guess it wouldn’t have mattered which car I drove, as the cop nicely told me one of the headlights was out when he pulled me over. FML
Today, after parking my car, I was informed by an incredibly hot girl that my tail light was faulty. I tried hitting it to make it work again. Guess who has 5 stitches and a smashed tail light? FML
Today, I pulled up to the stoplight near my house. It was dark with no traffic and the car behind me kept edging closer and closer to me. I finally got fed up with waiting and the car and ran it. In fact, it was a cop and he was trying to read my license plate because the back light was out. FML
Today, I got rear ended. The guy flashed his lights at me to pull over, so I pulled into the side of the road. He drove away. FML
Today, my dad was helping my fiancé and me move. On the way, someone sideswiped the trailer. When the police came, we found my dad had a suspended license, no insurance, and a broken tail light. No one else could drive a manual, so we were stuck in a parking lot for 3 hours. Thanks, dad. FML
Today, I had the lovely experience of witnessing a tow truck cause a couple thousand dollars' worth of damage to my broken-down car. FML

If you got anything, it should have been a fix-it ticket. Repair it and show the local police, they sign off on it and everything's ok. No fine. No points.

If it was a broken headlight instead, I think you would've been able to make it home with just one. As long as you tried a little, you'd probably find something better than in the middle.

In my experience if you put a sign in your back window that you're on your way fix you usually don't get pulled over.

That happened to me once as well. Got pulled over for having a brake light out, and in spite of me showing the officer the receipt and new bulb, I still got a ticket. Yes, I was pulled over on my way home from the auto parts store.

If you mention you are getting it repaired they will usually let you go... Maybe he should come to you in the future

That's a pretty old reference. For those who don't get it, it's a reference to this series of Youtube shorts called Red vs. Blue. In one of the early episodes, two characters send a third on a fool's errand to fetch 'elbow grease' and 'headlight fluid'.

Depending on the state you live in if you get the light fixed in 24 hrs from the time you got ticket then the ticket will be waived
