Today, I came out to my parents. They laughed in my face. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I came out to my parents. They still think I'm joking. FML
Today, I came out to my parents. My mom and dad think that I'm lying, just so I could "fit in" with everyone else. FML
Today, I came out to my therapist as gay. Claiming that my parents "can't be that homophobic", my therapist outed me to them. They kicked me out of the house. FML
Unexpected
Today, I came out to my parents. Their response was basically, "Oh, you’re coming out? But we’ve known for years. It was obvious, so obvious we never knew you were in the closet in the first place." FML
The straights are at it again
Today, I came out to my parents. My mother laughed and, when I asked her what was so funny, she told me, "Well, most gays are attractive, muscular, funny and can dress very well. You're ugly, fat, boring, and have no sense of fashion. Good luck." FML
Today, I came out to my parents. They nodded empathetically throughout my entire speech and told me repeatedly that it was okay. As I smiled and stood up, my dad asked, "But you're still going to marry a guy, right?" FML
Follow the lifescript
Today, I came out to my parents as lesbian. Surprisingly, they were OK with it… just as long as I still marry a dude, give them grandbabies, and keep the whole lesbian thing a deep, dark, shameful secret that we never talk about again. FML
About that...
Today, my brother came out to our parents. They weren't super happy with it, but they said that it was ok since they still had a straight son. I don't know how to tell them that I'm gay too. FML
Not today, Satan
Today, I briefly considered coming out to my parents when the topic of LGBTQ+ people came up in conversation, until my dad called them “socially deranged.” FML
Today, I came out to my mom. I had an epic speech planned, and when I tried to tell her, it all fell apart and I started crying and just said, "I'm gay." After a few seconds silence, my mom sighs and says, "Duh." FML

It's bad when the people of the Internet will take you more seriously than your parents. Sorry op

You can laugh in their shocked faces when you bring home your new girlfriend.

Don't worry OP they're probably just in shock or denial. I know my parents were when I came out and I still think they don't believe me; but it will get better, just stay true to yourself. :)

"Come out"?? C'mon now; they're your parents. They knew all along. You don't live under the same roof & not figure that shit out. (My younger sister is lesbian & went thru the same thing 30+ years ago. We knew long before she told us.)

I lived with my parents for 18 years and they didn't know, it depends on the family.

I had to come out when I was 14. It wasn't an option for me because of high school at the time.

I lived with my mom for 18 years and she didn't know. She had a fit and almost kicked me out. And she's actually still denying it; heavily. She's still hoping I'll turn out straight so she can throw a traditional Christian wedding.

What the hell, that was rude of them. They should appreciate who you are instead of making a scene. Trust me I know this. I'm a Lesbian and have been out since I was 14 and it was forcefully. Not a day goes by that I think of that day because I never got my glory, or my time. Instead it was upon force. The best advice I'm giving you is this. Don't let them tell you it's a phase cause it's not. You're born gay, and alot will disagree with that. Go on with life and if they can't learn to accept you for you, In time they will. If you need any help just send me a message :-) .

I'm sorry, OP. It wasn't very nice of them to laugh at you, but their reaction could have been far, far worse. Some kids are beaten, disowned, and/or thrown out of the home when they come out. Perhaps your parents knew or suspected. Perhaps the shock made them laugh. I hope that when they process this information, they can be the loving and supportive parents every person deserves.

Did they laugh because they knew all along?

How old are you? Age can be a factor in your parents response. I'm not sure if it is still like this in school or not, but when I was in middle school is when it became popular to be Bi. You were cool if you were bi, so people pretended to be. This carried on in to my high school years where it developed in to guys were cool if they were bi and girls were cool if they were pretend lesbians. I know sounds completely ridiculous. So maybe depending on your age they aren't taking it seriously because they think you are looking for attention, trying to be different, or think its just a phase and you'll get over it. If you honestly are gay/lesbian then just give them time and hopefully their love for you over powers any negative thoughts/feelings. Congrats on coming out!!!

My dad basically said "At least you won't get knocked up accidently." It gets better, OP.
