Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I came out to my parents. They still think I'm joking. FML
Today, I came out to my parents. My mom and dad think that I'm lying, just so I could "fit in" with everyone else. FML
Today, I came out to my therapist as gay. Claiming that my parents "can't be that homophobic", my therapist outed me to them. They kicked me out of the house. FML
Unexpected
Today, I came out to my parents. Their response was basically, "Oh, you’re coming out? But we’ve known for years. It was obvious, so obvious we never knew you were in the closet in the first place." FML
The straights are at it again
Today, I came out to my parents. My mother laughed and, when I asked her what was so funny, she told me, "Well, most gays are attractive, muscular, funny and can dress very well. You're ugly, fat, boring, and have no sense of fashion. Good luck." FML
Today, I came out to my parents. They nodded empathetically throughout my entire speech and told me repeatedly that it was okay. As I smiled and stood up, my dad asked, "But you're still going to marry a guy, right?" FML
Follow the lifescript
Today, I came out to my parents as lesbian. Surprisingly, they were OK with it… just as long as I still marry a dude, give them grandbabies, and keep the whole lesbian thing a deep, dark, shameful secret that we never talk about again. FML
About that...
Today, my brother came out to our parents. They weren't super happy with it, but they said that it was ok since they still had a straight son. I don't know how to tell them that I'm gay too. FML
Not today, Satan
Today, I briefly considered coming out to my parents when the topic of LGBTQ+ people came up in conversation, until my dad called them “socially deranged.” FML
Today, I came out to my mom. I had an epic speech planned, and when I tried to tell her, it all fell apart and I started crying and just said, "I'm gay." After a few seconds silence, my mom sighs and says, "Duh." FML

It's bad when the people of the Internet will take you more seriously than your parents. Sorry op

You can laugh in their shocked faces when you bring home your new girlfriend.

Parents never do get it - but they may come around, OP. Fingers crossed for you. I know exactly how you feel.

Maybe when you said gay they thought you meant happy?

Be glad that they only laughed in your face. I'm sure you're aware of the many horror stories where the child was disowned, or treated even worse.

It's sad they reacted like this, but hey, at least they didn't want you to get a cure or throw you out or anything like this. I'm sure everything is gonna be alright eventually, like with me it is now. :)

It's much better than what could have happened. Even though they did laugh in your face, they are clearly much more supportive of you than certain parents are. They probably just didn't know how to properly react to the situation.

Aw. :( that sucks, I know how not being accepted feels. But hey now that you're out, you don't have to hide. :)

To my parents and some friends and girlfriend, I came out (as a strong strong atheist, which is frowned upon, not as a homosexual), and some at first were all shocked. Not upset, but shocked. They asked why and said that I needed to go to church to understand. I told my points though and then they all themselves started questioning their beliefs as well. They said they still disagreed with me, but they still had no argument. My point is don't be afraid to tell something your hiding and don't worry about others reactions, like I did. Just get accepted for who you are, teach people things, and if they still don't accept then they don't love you and they don't deserve your love

The dad should be happy and he should of said "Oohhh my daughter is a lesbian, get the camera"
