Today, I came out to my parents. They laughed in my face. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I came out to my parents. They still think I'm joking. FML
Today, I came out to my parents. My mom and dad think that I'm lying, just so I could "fit in" with everyone else. FML
Today, I came out to my therapist as gay. Claiming that my parents "can't be that homophobic", my therapist outed me to them. They kicked me out of the house. FML
Unexpected
Today, I came out to my parents. Their response was basically, "Oh, you’re coming out? But we’ve known for years. It was obvious, so obvious we never knew you were in the closet in the first place." FML
The straights are at it again
Today, I came out to my parents. My mother laughed and, when I asked her what was so funny, she told me, "Well, most gays are attractive, muscular, funny and can dress very well. You're ugly, fat, boring, and have no sense of fashion. Good luck." FML
Today, I came out to my parents. They nodded empathetically throughout my entire speech and told me repeatedly that it was okay. As I smiled and stood up, my dad asked, "But you're still going to marry a guy, right?" FML
Follow the lifescript
Today, I came out to my parents as lesbian. Surprisingly, they were OK with it… just as long as I still marry a dude, give them grandbabies, and keep the whole lesbian thing a deep, dark, shameful secret that we never talk about again. FML
About that...
Today, my brother came out to our parents. They weren't super happy with it, but they said that it was ok since they still had a straight son. I don't know how to tell them that I'm gay too. FML
Not today, Satan
Today, I briefly considered coming out to my parents when the topic of LGBTQ+ people came up in conversation, until my dad called them “socially deranged.” FML
Today, I came out to my mom. I had an epic speech planned, and when I tried to tell her, it all fell apart and I started crying and just said, "I'm gay." After a few seconds silence, my mom sighs and says, "Duh." FML

It's bad when the people of the Internet will take you more seriously than your parents. Sorry op

You can laugh in their shocked faces when you bring home your new girlfriend.

on the bright side, they seemed to accept you by thinking how they reacted

I don't think laughing in someone's face can be interpreted as acceptance...

33- Well, the opposite reaction of screaming, crying or hitting someone doesn't seem very accepting either somehow. ;)

Denial is a fickle beast.

No, it's actually a river in Egypt

Ouch.. Well at least their gut reaction wasn't to kick you out or scream profanities in your face.

Next time forgo the bright red clown nose, oversized shoes, and rubber chicken. Instead, wear a three piece suit. And glasses. People are always taken more seriously when they wear glasses.

It may be time sit down and have a talk. A more serious one, perhaps

Look on the bright side, at least you're not disowned or kicked out of the house?

Aww, I'm sorry, that sucks. :/ Clearly they weren't taking the situation serious enough. I hope they realize who you truly are, and support you in every way.

I thought the same thing! Where's the homophobic seal when you need him?!

Maybe they were stoned? Are they hippies, perhaps? That would be the only 'understandable' excuse to that reaction. Sorry they made a joke of it. That's not very nice of them.

so only stoned hippies can react like that? interesting.....

Did you ever think they might already have known and that's why they laughed?

Congratulations on your commitment, but I hope that your parents can accept you for who you are. Otherwise TDI (They deserved it).
