Today, I came out of the closet. Now whenever I'm getting ready to go somewhere with my dad he says, "Lesgo, lesbo." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my son decided to come out of the closet by wearing a shirt that said "Mom, I'm gay" to the family reunion. FML

Today, I came out to my parents as lesbian. Surprisingly, they were OK with it… just as long as I still marry a dude, give them grandbabies, and keep the whole lesbian thing a deep, dark, shameful secret that we never talk about again. FML
Today, I told my friends I had been hiding something that I wanted to come clean on. My one friend responds by saying, "FINALLY you come out of the closet. It's about time." I'm not gay. I was just going to tell them my parents were getting a divorce. FML
Today, I came out to my parents. I don't really fit any stereotype, I'm just an average guy who happens to be into guys. Ten minutes later, I overheard my mother say to my step-dad, "Should we redecorate his room pink?" FML
Today, I came out to my mom. I had an epic speech planned, and when I tried to tell her, it all fell apart and I started crying and just said, "I'm gay." After a few seconds silence, my mom sighs and says, "Duh." FML
Dad jokes, part #23556
Today, I finally let my parents meet a boyfriend of mine for the first time ever. My dad mentioned how he was happy to finally meet him, because for the past 4 years he'd thought I was gay. FML
Today, I came out to my father. He seemed to be totally okay with it, as long as I'm the "man" in my relationships. FML
Not today, Satan
Today, I briefly considered coming out to my parents when the topic of LGBTQ+ people came up in conversation, until my dad called them “socially deranged.” FML
Today, I finally came out to my dad, who is a priest, as gay. He responded by splashing me with holy water to "banish the demon within" me. FML
Today, I introduced my new boyfriend to my parents. Everyone knows he's into the emo scene, but this didn't stop my dad from slowly looking him up and down, then saying, completely deadpan, "You never told us you were a lesbian, honey." FML

At least he's not making it worse than that

Your dad sounds supportive and I think his joking will help him to assimilate this perhaps new view of you and your future that coming out creates and also will work to create an environment where you will always be able to openly acknowledge and discuss your sexuality at home. The joke will get old to him in time; just wait it out.

This beats my dad saying that it's such a pity because I would have made a good wife and my mum laughing when I said the reason I don't play softball is because I don't like ball sports. This is 5 years after coming out.

to be fair, you kinda brought that ball-sports one on yourself.

Not in the context of the conversation, I expected my 58 year old mother would be a little more mature.

les be honest, is it really that awful. Every dad picks on their child in one way or another.

Isn't it obvious! She was reenacting R Kelly's Trapped In The Closet... Lol, I just had to..

I've always wondered if that song meant R Kelly was gay....

Lol, these comments remind me of the South Park episode with all the celebrities locking themselves in Stan's closet.

Consider yourself lucky, OP. Your dad sounds like he's being very accepting and he's just kidding around with you. Some parents throw their kids out of the house, disown them or worse. Sounds like he's taking it pretty well.

At least he's not saying "Get out of here, you ******* queer!"

It's probably just his way of dealing with it. I imagine it takes a lot to tell your parents, but it's also something that they have to get their head round as well.

I agree with most of the comments on here that it could be so much worse, but I totally get that you would want him to keep treating you exactly the same as he did before. Just talk to him about it and let him know that it was funny the first time, but now you just want things to go back to how they were.

Your dad seems like a fun guy.

#28, I believe the singular form is "fungus."

Scary... my sixth grade science teacher always made that joke. "Fungi? I'm a fun guy!" Makes me wonder if you could be Mr. Adamson...
