Today, being a music student, a professional orchestra performed a symphony that I wrote and dedicated to my girlfriend. It took months to compose and it the first and only time it was ever going to be played. My girlfriend forgot to come. FML

Today, I sang a romantic song I wrote for my girlfriend. She laughed at my soprano. FML
Today, after spending months learning how to play the guitar and memorizing the music to my girlfriend's all-time favorite song, I performed it for her. Her response? "Well, you kind of ruined that song for me now." FML
Today, after practicing a song for my girlfriend on guitar all day, I called her over to my house to show it to her. After a long speech about how "this is for you," I played for about 3 seconds before I broke a string, which slapped her in her face. FML
Today, I had my last orchestra concert and had a large solo. My dad came to watch and record it; however, the whole time he recorded another girl, thinking it was me. FML
Today, after an argument with my pianist girlfriend about how bad my favourite song would sound on the piano, she stormed out of the room crying, leaving behind a CD. It was the piano version of the song she'd made for me. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend at the museum where we met, with a violinist playing her favourite song. She said yes but later said she felt put on the spot in public, and if I’d proposed in private, she probably would've said no. I’m in my feelings trying not to cry right now. FML
Today, after I'd told this girl I’m seeing that I play piano to impress her, it turns out her father is a pianist and has a grand piano in their house. Tonight, I’m supposed to go to her place to play her my "favorite piece." FML
Today, I was with my girlfriend and she was making me listen to one of her recordings for chorus. As I was listening to it, a solo came on, and i turned to her and said, "This is the worst fucking solo I've ever heard in my life." Little did I know, it was her solo. FML
Today, I wrote my girlfriend a song. She wrote me a 13-page letter on why we should break up. FML
Today, I was at a very important music competition. When we'd rehearsed the song in question, the conductor said we were to repeat the last four bars of the song three times. As I went to play the third time, the whole orchestra stopped playing. I kept playing by accident and we came in third because of my mistake. FML

miley cyrus, taylor swift? can they read music? can they analyze harmonic progression and roman numeral analysis', and sight sing on the spot like first semester freshman music majors in college? (or even some in high school depending on your music program) probably not. :/

Do you have a recording? And don't say it'll never be performed again. You never know. Berlioz wrote the symphonie fantastique for the purpose of getting Harriet Smithson's attention, and now it's an integral part of orchestral repertoire.

Start an online orchestra project to perform the symphony. Have you heard of the YouTube Symphony Orchestra? Something like that perhaps. Or, if you wrote this in Finale, use the Vienna Symphonic or Garritan Personal Orchestra recording you can make of it. Also, since this a professional orchestra and this is a special occasion rather than just a performance of some piece, a recording might have been made; our city's orchestra does this thing called "Fresh Ink" where fledgling professional composers send in their compositions and the orchestra selects which ones to perform. A recording is always made of it. Or perform the score on the instrument you play. Or play an important solo carried on by the instrument you play in the symphony, on the instrument you play.

Very true. This may have just been a community or part-time orchestra. People have different perceptions on what a "professional" ensemble is. As a word of general advice from a fellow musician, never write a symphonic work for your girlfriend unless she, too, is a musician. If she were a "musician" in the fullest sense of the term, she wouldn't forget about coming to a concert.
