Today, one hour before bedtime on the last day of the school holidays, my kids informed me that they need art smocks for school. They have no idea why I'm frustrated. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Freeze peach
Today, my kids decided to draw on the walls with permanent marker, and now my house looks like a modern art exhibit. FML
Today, I got a note from my son's kindergarten teacher. During free time yesterday, he told her, "Mommy was stripping". I was indeed stripping. Paint that is. FML
Today, the kids I was babysitting somehow found a pair of my underwear. They asked if they could use them to go parachuting. FML
Today, while in the store with my kids, they wanted to buy tampons because I am "getting cranky, and it should be that time of the month." FML
Today, my mother yelled at me for not doing all of my homework. She got so mad, she tore up a drawing I'd spent over a week working on. That was my art homework. FML
Today, my daughter asked me if we could make sticker art. Of course I said it was OK so she went to get some stickers. I wondered where she was going when she walked into the bathroom, but I didn't ask. I left the room and when I came back, her paper was blank and my pads were stuck to the wall. FML
Today, 5 minutes before I had to leave for school, my friends convinced me it was "pajama day" at school. I showed up in slippers and Sponge Bob pajamas. My school wouldn't let me go home to change. FML
That's the spirit
Today, I'd promised my daughter I’d make her costume for School Spirit Day, so I'd stayed up late hot-gluing fabric, only to now notice that I’d attached the sleeves upside down. She wore it anyway because there was no time to fix it, and I spent the day hoping no other parent would ask where I got it. FML
Fashionable
Today, I did a quick load of laundry so I would have work clothes for the week. I don't have my own dryer, so I dried them in the one in my building. After running out to my car, I came back to find that my neighborhood kids had added 6 sharpies to my clothes. Every uniform I own now has stripes. FML
Today, after hours of protesting and tantrums, I finally got my kids to clean their rooms. They're all really proud of themselves and enjoying all the extra space. I'm stuck with the three extra loads of laundry they found in there. FML

Looks like you're the smock in this scenario. Pro-tip: Dad's old t-shirts -- you kill two birds with one stone.

When I was a kid, I just used one of my dad's old buttoned down shirts--instant smock!

Maybe you could use old bed sheets or pillow cases.

Ahhhh reminds me of the time when my brother was in high school and told my mom they needed to make flan for a Cinco de Mayo class party the day before.

Want to prove a point and ensure they never do this again? Send them to art class wearing (clean) garbage bags.

Yup. Old shirt worn backwards does the truck :-)

This is a teaching moment. They go to school tomorrow without smocks and an explanation as to why. If they pull that stunt again, same treatment. They must learn to tell you in a timely manner when they need something.

Wrong. The right answer is don't have children.

Reminds me of the time my little brother waited until 10 o'clock the night before to tell my mom "Oh by the way I volunteered to bring 10 pounds of taco meat for the school party tomorrow!" My mom was PISSED but she couldn't let down an entire class of kids so she made an early morning grocery run and made the taco meat, then grounded my brother for a month for not telling her earlier.

It's their problem now.
