Today, after spending 8 months and $11,000 on school, I was denied a job in my chosen career field. They told me they decided to go with someone with more experience. So who got the job? One of my classmates. This is her first job. EVER. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Logic
Today, I received a call telling me I had not gotten a job I would have been a perfect fit for. The hiring manager told me they "went in the opposite direction" and chose to hire someone with less experience, so they didn't have to pay them as much. She made sure to tell me I was still the better candidate though. FML
Nepotism rules
Today, I got notice that I didn't get the new position I applied for at work. After two interviews, pay negotiation and paperwork, as well as years of giving this place all my time, I found out my boss gave it to his friend's daughter, who has no experience or credentials needed for the position. FML
Today, I got my first job after having spent months looking, and graduating college in the meantime. I got it based on my pre-college qualifications. FML
Sore loser
Today, after graduating from the same program, I was offered several jobs, while my boyfriend wasn’t. He couldn’t be happy for me, saying, "She got in with the right people, and they just keep handing her jobs," and dismissing my work ethic. FML
Today, I was passed over for the job of my dreams. I now have to watch as a girl I have on Facebook - a total moron - boasts daily about scoring the position instead. Turns out the interviewer was her uncle. FML
Today, after finally getting a job offer after months of unemployment, I found out that the person who was going to hire me got fired. Which means I'm not getting the job. FML
Today, while waiting for an interview at the career that I've been spending months tailoring my résumé for, I was thrown up on by my only competitor. Guess who got the job. FML
Today, I found out that the money I spent on a very specific degree was wasted, because apparently, I don't qualify for a job at the place that told me I had to have that degree. FML
Skill issue or…?
Today, my sister started a full-time job with a good pay despite having no prior work experience and being a college freshman. Meanwhile, I've graduated with two degrees, have been working two jobs for the last five years, and still can't get a full-time position anywhere. FML
Today, I eagerly applied for a high-salary, fully supportive graduate program that I qualified for. There were 5 steps in the application process. I was turned down after the first one. FML

you can't expect to just walking your first job interview and be hired just like that. stop crying and keep applying

try being half of the graduating law students who have spent 3 years and 150k, who are now overqualified for most jobs, but can't find legal work. most of whom have applied to 200+ jobs. so when you hit that mile mark, maybe then you can complain.

They could have wanted someone they could train to do things their way. I have seen it done. It is much easier to start with someone new to working in the field, then to try to remold from badly taught habits learned else where.

I used to really hate the whole job seeking process. One time I interviewed for a job I was perfect for. About 5 seconds into the interview (which was with several men) it was clear to me that they hated me on sight. I wasn't even out of the room when they started picking me apart for my 'scrawny ****,' 'doggy face' and 'hair the color of a mouse's ass' since of course the size of my breasts, what my face looked like and the color of my hair were huge factors in my ability to sit in a room by myself editing copy. They laughed and said I'd never get anywhere looking like that. I am now a senior writer for what had been their primary competitor. We knocked them out years ago and when everyone from that company came begging to us for jobs, I made a point of ensuring that none of those rude, superficial men got so much as a foot in the door. What goes around, comes around.
