Today, 5 months after doing a shoot for a stock photo site, someone finally used one of my photos. In an article about meth abuse. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I discovered that a company has been using a photo of me for one of those "she lost 50 pounds" online ads. I'm the "before" photo. FML
Today, I uploaded my latest picture onto a photography website. It only got one comment, and even that was from someone advising me to never use the same hideous model ever again. It was a self-portrait. FML
Today, my workplace had a big employee photoshoot for an ad campaign. I was there all of 30 seconds before the photographer said, "What the fuck? Look guys, this ain't an ad for facial abortions." He then asked me and another colleague to step out of the shot. FML
Fun, relaxed
Today, I found out that my company used a nice photo of my coworkers and me for their corporate website, in efforts to make their office seem fun and relaxed. This wouldn't be so bad if they hadn't just fired every single person in the photo, myself included. FML
Today, I found a picture of myself on the "People of Walmart" site. FML
Today, on my first day at as a photo editor at a print store, I had to spend over an hour editing a full shoot of a fat man eating a baguette in a bathtub, closeups included. FML
Thanks guys
Today I was offered an opportunity on Instagram from a local lady to take photos of her home for her. I told my friends, because I was shocked. They were shocked too. But in the nicest terms possible, they were shocked because my Instagram "isn’t really professional enough to get such offers." Ouch. FML
Today, my parents told me they wouldn't be able to afford my senior portraits. That was fine with me, until I found some expensive professional photos in the mail. Of our dog. FML
Today, I saw myself on the news. I was one of the random passers by they had filmed for their story on the "Fat Epidemic." FML
Today, my boss decided to post a photo of a piece of crap on Facebook. He tagged me in it. FML

Yay! People are finding and using your site! Think positive. Better than no views at all.

basically every ad agency, ever.

Also it could be a before and after-type photo. You might be on the before side, highlighting what people could lose.

Kinda wondering what OP was taking pictures of that could be used alongside an article about crystal meth...

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
Who even uses stock photos?

People buy the rights to them, get them without the watermark and use them for ads and billboards

Is this a serious question? Every ad agency (like 6 said), journalistic outlets, and thousands (if not millions) of other sites use them, and I'm not saying this because I happen to be a stock photographer. There are many kinds of stock photos. If people never had need of stock photos, there would be no profit in being a stock photographer.

There are LOADS of stories about meth every day. If you manage to get famous for posing for meth pictures, there should be some serious money.

Was it at least for a before picture?

Isn't that a violation of intellectual property?

You don't really get what stock photography is, do you?

A stock photographer takes photos of things and uploads them to stock sites like Getty (and its subsidiary, iStock) and Bigstock. Simply put, if a photographer takes an image of a recognizable person, a model release must be signed by that person. If a brand appears in a photo, a property release is required. The same goes for certain major landmarks or monuments. If neither can be obtained, it is for editorial use only. OP most likely signed a model release.

As long as it wasn't being used as the "after" photo...

That's not exactly what you would have had in mind but ok...

If it's for one of those before/after ads, then let's hope you're before.
