To each their own

Today, I messaged my two best friends for emotional support. I don't normally do this, as I feel like I'm bothering people, but I was having a breakdown. One never replied; the other said, "Everyone is having a hard time" then talked about her own problems. FML

You need better friends

Remember this - People who want emotional support from friends and families need to have a history of likewise supporting their friends and family. People who are frequently in need of emotional support but don’t likewise take a positive interest in listening to others when they need support will eventually get the response you got. I’m not saying OP is “needy” and doesn’t support her friends, maybe her friends are needy… Generally speaking if you want to be a good friend, you support your friends when they need and want that. If you do that, unless they are selfish and needy, they will be more likely to support you. Ultimately, though friends and family are usually not equipped to deal with major depression, anxiety, or other emotional problems. For that you need to turn to a professional.
