Today, a couple at the dog park, who seemed afraid of large dogs, tried to kick my dog for trying to say hi to them. They then called the police on me for lunging and yelling at the guy for trying to kick my dog. It's an off-leash dog park people, don't go there if you're afraid of dogs! FML

Today, I was threatened with arrest for refusing to accept a citation for having a dog off leash in a park. It wasn’t my fucking dog! It was a very friendly stray that started following me on my morning walk. I tried to explain myself but the dog wouldn’t leave my side or stop barking at the cop. FML
Today, a crazed woman started screaming at me at the dog park. She was saying that I was cruel and unfit to be a pet owner, and she ought to kick my ass. My dog's ears and tail were cropped before I even got him. He’s a rescue and came to me like this. She wouldn’t listen and followed me to my car. FML
Today, I saw a dog trying to attack a man. I have experience working with aggressive dogs, so I pulled the dog off him and got it under control. The man punched me in the face for not having my dog on a leash. It wasn't my dog. I don't even own a dog. FML
Today, as I was walking my dog, some self-righteous animal activist berated me on how it was animal abuse to put my dog on a leash. Despite warning her, she crouched down to undo it, my dog charged at her, giving her a gash on the cheek. She kicked my dog for it, and is now threatening to sue me. FML
Today, a dog attacked me. Its owner, instead of apologizing and helping me, said it was my own fault for making it think I was an attacker by running past them. We were on a jogging track. FML
Today, I took my dog to the dog park and let him off the leash for a bit. He ran straight towards a group of people having a picnic, jumped on their blanket, and devoured half of their food before I could catch him. They were surprisingly forgiving, but I had to buy them lunch to make up for it. FML
Today, I was walking my dog when a lady approached me, commented how beautiful she was, and asked to pet her. I obliged and next thing I knew I was pushed to the ground and maced. She made off with my dog. The police is unable to locate them. FML
Today, I was at Petsmart with my puppy. Someone tried to pet him. I tried to warn the guy that he is a rescue and doesn't trust easily. He didn't listen and now wants to sue me for a dog bite that didn't even break the skin. FML
Today, I had to climb up and sit in a tree for half an hour to avoid being mauled by a huge, insane dog. Its weird-looking owner eventually turned up, sneered at me, and walked off with the visibly smug dog in tow. FML
Today, I was walking down the street when a police officer started walking behind me with his dog. I sped up and tried to cross the road. He took this as suspicious and got the dog to take me to the floor. I've been afraid of dogs since I was 5. FML

My band was once playing music in a park (brought there by the city government in conjunction with the reopening of the park). As I was setting up, a dog came over and started sniffing around all my stuff. I locked eyes with him, and he kept a respectful distance. The one second I looked away, he started lifting his leg on my trombone. Our drummer saw it, clapped her hands in the direction of the dog and yelled, "No!" The dog's owner, who was about a hundred feet or more away and not paying attention to his dog, yelled back, "Don't touch my dog!" The drummer yelled back, "I didn't touch him. I just yelled at him to scare him away from our stuff." The owner yelled back, "It's a dog park. He can be off leash, and he can go anywhere he wants." The drummer yelled back, "He's over here trying to piss all over our instruments. Just because it's okay for him to be off leash, that doesn't mean you magically lose responsibility for any damage he does. Even if it's a dog park, you still need to watch your dog."

While I agree with your sentiment that dog owners still need to watch their dogs, a dog walking up to a person (especially in an off leash park) is a pretty common occurrence and shouldn’t be welcomed with a kick. God knows why you were asked to perform in an off leash park. In my experience, at off leash parks, dogs want to mark any novel item around. I’m surprised you only had one dog who was attempting to pee on your instruments!

Actually, I was primarily trying to point out that OP left out details. If OP was nearby and watching the dog and able to intervene, then it's totally an FML. If it was a case of "I was chatting with my friends 100 yards away, not paying attention to my dog," then it's much, much less of an FML. Under no circumstances would I say it's a YDI, because kicking at dogs is never cool, especially in a dog park. I live near a dog park, and the lazy, inattentive dog owners tend to outnumber the ones who keep an eye on their dogs.

I feel your pain. I got so ******* sick of assholes at the dog park I bought my own goddamn land to run my dogs.
