Today, I had to go to the local UPS store to sign for a package with providing I.D. shipped to me. I had no idea who had sent the package. After signing for the package, I opened it and saw that I had signed for an empty package. I actually paid for nothing. FML

Today, I received a package and confidently told the delivery guy I didn’t need to sign because it was “hands-free these days.” He stared at me, pointed at the giant screen that clearly required a signature, and said, “Not for this one.” I scribbled in shame. FML
Today, I found out that FedEx delivered my $700 package to the wrong person. The person who signed for it didn't even spell my name right. FML
Today, I got a notification from a delivery carrier that my package had been delivered. I opened the door to find a perfectly wrapped box with no address, no label, and a note inside saying, "You’ll know when it’s time." I still don’t know what it means. FML

I was expecting one, so I grabbed and opened it, then realized it wasn’t mine, but my neighbor’s. I had to awkwardly re-tape it, then sneak over and leave the disturbing contents of the box on their porch before they noticed. FML
Today, I received an email from a shipping company telling me they had dropped off a package of expensive electronics at the front door. Too bad someone stole it before I made it to the door. FML
Today, I learned that last week, the UPS man gave my package to my neighbor for safekeeping. It was over five-hundred dollars' worth of merchandise. My neighbor left for Canada on Saturday. FML
Today, I was home alone tanning in my backyard which is fairly secluded. I took my top off and laid there for awhile before I looked over and saw the UPS guy standing at my gate with a package because nobody answered the door. I looked horrified and he said not to worry, he'd seen better. FML
Today, a phone I bought online turned up while I was at work. The delivery guy left a note saying he'd left the package with my neighbor at #10. When I went and knocked on the door and asked for the package, my neighbor said "Nope, nothing delivered here." and quickly shut the door in my face. FML
Today, I got a notice on my apartment door that I'd received a package when no one was home, and it was left at the backdoor. I don't have a backdoor. FML
Today, I bought stamps to send a letter. For some unknown reason, instead of putting the stamp on the letter, I posted the letter and the stamp booklet into the postbox. FML

Once I accepted the package and Opened it, I saw that it was from CVS. The order I had placed was not delivered, however, I was charged for missing items.

It wasn’t the post office if had bothered to read. It was UPS. The package was not marked on the outside. However after opening it, I saw that I had placed an order with CVS. There was nothing in the package. I was charged for nothing.

OP - Empty packages could be part of an elaborate scam for a seller artificially to inflate their sales and ranking. They are scamming the selling site, not necessarily the recipient. Google “receiving empty packages from china”

You paid for the “experience.” People are often happier paying for experiences than for tangible objects. Not sure I’d want the “trip to the UPS Store” experience, but you do you.

in services like UPS, DHL, FedEx etc it is possible to send packages and have the receiver pay for them instead of the sender

The amusing thing is that most freight companies will default back to the sender for payment if the package is not delivered/collected. So if you aren't expecting a receiver pays package and there's no identifying information on the consignment as to who sent it with a customer reference.. just don't accept delivery. They can't force you to accept it.
