Swindled

Today, I found out that the piece of vacant land I purchased for $20,000 is illegal to build a house on, due to acreage restrictions. Thank you, realtor. FML

I would have done research with the town first. With any kind of construction you want to talk to people about ordinances first. The realtor just wants to sell sell sell.

Could always build a paintball course and get revenue from that

Hey its called withholding information. You need to sue the realitor. That was a violaton of the law

It's called due diligence; you deserve it for not getting variance approval before purchasing the property. You should have made the variance a dependency for your purchase agreement. If you want to build somewhere, why wouldn't you research the area? Just talking to the local clerk/registar of deeds would have gotten you the information about set back rules and acerage requirements.

acreage restriction? lol so you bought a super tiny piece of land in a neighborhood and thought you could cram a house on it? lol you deserve it!

Next time, do your research. It will save you from this in the future.

Sue the realtor!!!

Get a real estate lawyer. That should have been disclosed to you unless you didn't tell your realtor you were planning on building a house on the land.

Good time to start a new privatized graveyard in town !

Put the biggest trailer/caravan on there you can lay your hands on ( or even several and connect them up in some way ) . As a mobile home that can be moved about, you are not building on the land. Therefore theoretically you can still live on it.

You could argue frustration of contract?:-/
