Sounds like an old joke, but unfortunately…
Today, I opened my mail and mistook it for my bank statement. It was my hospital bill. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I was so tired that I thought the item I'd ordered a few months ago had been delivered then stolen, so I emailed the company about it. When I checked back on the website, I realized it hadn't actually been delivered yet and I read the invoice wrong. FML
Today, I checked my bank account online and noticed two checks that I didn't write had gone through, so I got copies of them and recognized the handwriting. It was my best friend's. FML
Today, I realized while paying bills on my phone I fat-fingered which credit card I was paying and sent 299 to a paid-off card instead of 200 to another one. Now I'm going to have overdraft fees too. FML
Today, I checked the mail. It was New Year's Day. I didn't realize my mistake until someone else pointed it out and I let out a "D'oh!" like Homer Simpson. FML
Today, I got a birthday card in the mail from my aunt. I got all excited when I saw a cheque inside, but the cheque was addressed to the wrong name. Not only did my own aunt forget my name, I couldn't even bank the $60. FML
Today, my high school diploma came in the mail. I accidentally ripped the diploma while opening it. FML
Today, I looked at my bank balance. It read $1.23. That's higher than it usually is. FML
Today, I fell asleep in the doctor's waiting room. When I woke up, the room was empty, and there was a $1 bill tucked into my cleavage. FML
Today, getting home from a long day at work, I checked the mail and saw three envelopes from the IRS. Apparently I now owe over $4,000. I only have $2 in my bank account. FML
Today, I had a doctor's appointment. I arrived early so I could check in with the receptionists about this weird communication mixup that's caused me to miss my last two appointments. Despite what my appointment card said, I arrived to find the office closed. FML

An easy mistake to make. Hospitals often insert a note saying: You'd better get, WELL, Fargo, so we can CHASE you down and take your SACKS of GOLD, MAN.

That sucks. My wife was in the hospital overnight in April. We just got the $1700 copay bill this week. Would have been $16,000 without insurance. Welcome to America, land of the free - well, not counting healthcare.

Yeah, I once saw a medical bill for someone over a $100k. This was like 20 years ago. Patient died regardless, and the medical bills were more than the cost of a house at the time.
