Slow moving accident

Today, I got into an accident, driving pretty slowly on a left turn signal trying to avoid a curb, sticking it out for too long, breaking a car's sideview mirror and causing scratches. The police was called. I have to appear in court for a misdemeanour for my first offence ever. Good bye student visa. FML

You’d have to explain it to immigration but you’ll get by If you have to appear in court rather than just pay a ticket though, it sounds like there’s more to it: you were drunk or high, missing insurance or driving recklessly. Were you in the wrong lane opposing traffic? If you were stupid enough with what you did, you may well deserve it.

In many languages 'the Police' is singular, so it's just not knowing that it's plural in English. OP probably knows the difference between was and were

im a tad confused by this, when were the brakes applied?

"The police was called?" Your student visa is more in jeopardy because of your grammar than a minor accident.
