Today, after my boyfriend left me a few months ago, I'd accepted him back because I wanted to work things out. However, now the pain I had to go through is making me lose sleep, interest, and my self-respect. Ugh! FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, after a shitty year in which I got pregnant, a miscarriage happened, then my boyfriend turned into more of asshole, which I thought it was part of the miscarriage so I stayed with him, but he kept blaming me so I broke up with him. FML
Today, my boyfriend was cold and distant with me, after holding me the day before and telling me to my face we were OK and that he wasn’t upset anymore. I tried to give him space originally but he insisted he didn’t need it. Now I just feel stupid. FML
Today, my girlfriend contacted me. She said she'd thought over her feelings over our temporary break in the relationship, and she wanted to try again. Being my stupid, self-loathing self, I asked her so many questions on if she was sure or not that she went back into doubt and revoked the offer. FML
Today, my girlfriend left me at 11pm after leading me on for 5 months, all because she lost interest. I wasted so much time, money, and emotions on her, and never received them from her. FML
Today, my boyfriend of over a year broke up with me. Completely crushed, I spent an hour gathering up everything he ever gave me. Then he calls back to say how stupid he was and how he wanted me back. I was ecstatic. An hour later he figured out he was okay with his first decision. FML
Today, after my relationship ended in a shambles, my partner finally moved out and we were broken up, now, just as I started talking to others and feeling OK with being alone, she revealed that the break was temporary and that she has to move back in temporarily. FML
Today, I went to see my boyfriend with the intention of breaking up with him. Instead I discovered that he lost his job today and has to move back in with his parents. I can't bring myself to dump someone who's already crying about his horrible day. Now I have to comfort my soon-to-be ex. FML
Today, after I dated a girl for 4 years and she'd left me for another man, she came back about a week later bawling on my bathroom floor. I comforted and held her, thinking she may have realized she'd made a mistake, only for her to say how much she loved him the whole time. I hate myself. FML
Today, after several years spent hung up on my ex, I was finally moving on. I was on a date with my new boyfriend when my ex walked past us. He broke down crying, got on his knees, and begged me to come back. FML
Today, my boyfriend of 3 months decided to end our long-distance relationship out of the blue, because he "lost interest" and "our families don't approve" and "you deserve better than me" and "I'm holding you back." He took my heart and shattered against the wall. FML

He's not worth it. Ditch him again and take time out for you.

Wanting to work it out and it being a good idea to work it out are not always the same thing. This is one of those occasions where they're very much not.

It’s always a balancing act - Is the relationship salvageable? Some people give up too soon when it was salvageable and could have improved… Some people don’t recognize that the relationship isn’t salvageable and let themselves be taken advantage of because they are trying too hard to make things work… A relationship has to work for both people. If it doesn’t then it’s not really going to last. But I admit that’s a tough judgement call sometimes.

Dump him. There were reasons for the breakup, and they will come back around. I had dated a guy for about 8 months, when he left me because he “needed his own space,” and I was “taking up too much of his time.” After a few months, he wanted to get back together, and I agreed. Fast forward 8 YEARS, and he pitched a fit because I “don’t treat him like part of my family,” meaning that he’s not allowed to just walk into my house when I’m not expecting him, and he was mad because I sometimes like to do things with just my kids and not him. So…he still wants his space and time, but I wasn’t allowed to have mine. I wish I had saved myself those 8 extra years.
