Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my wife invited 45+ people to her baby shower, but literally 4 people came. Now I get to deal with my pregnant wife and her fluctuating hormones. FML
Today, there was a baby shower for our first child. My hostess invited 75 people. Only 3 people showed up. FML
Today, out of the 35 people invited, only one person showed up to my bridal shower. It was my grandma. FML
Today, my mom dragged me along with her to a baby shower. I was the only guy there. FML
Today, at a friendly get-together, my friend's husband had too much to drink and got into a fistfight with my husband. I'm seven-and-a-half months pregnant, and the friendly get-together was my baby shower. FML
Today, I had my leaving party after work to celebrate getting a new job. 3 people turned up. I'd invited 35. FML
Today, it was my wedding day. Three people showed up. My mom, my dad, and the priest. FML
Today, I was yelled at and humiliated by my otherwise awesome brother-in-law for my supposed lack of effort in the planning of a baby shower for my very pregnant sister. The kicker? Her huge, break-my-bank semi-surprise baby shower has been in the works for a month, and is happening this weekend. FML
Today, we celebrated our daughter's sixth birthday. Out of the 30 invited, 7 showed up. The last one to cancel this morning told us she was ill. My daughter was in tears as this meant the last remaining playmate couldn't come. My wife later saw her tagged on Facebook at another party. FML
Today, it was my wedding. Everyone showed up… except my fiancé. FML

OP - That sucks! … It’s so weird that it makes me think that there is more to the story. You realize that most people keep sort of keep a running tally in their minds - Did the guest of honor previously give to my event, was it a nice gift, etc… To be honest, I’d doubt if those 48 or so missing guests were really “friends”. There is a difference between co-workers, acquaintances, neighbors, and friends. While I am all in favor of celebrating important events, it sometimes looks like people throw events just to get presents - And if that appears to be the situation many people don’t really want to have anything to do with it. OP I am sorry for the embarrassment and hurt feelings, this really shouldn’t happen.

Nah, it's just that the wife and him are too tired to organize a baby shower, which is why the mother-in-law did it. Maybe it's better that there was only two persons. Mom and Dad need to rest, and the leftover food will give them enough meals for twenty days.
