Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my mother-in-law invited all my wife’s friends and family, and my family, to her baby shower, well over a 50-60 people. Two people came. FML
Today, there was a baby shower for our first child. My hostess invited 75 people. Only 3 people showed up. FML
Today, at a friendly get-together, my friend's husband had too much to drink and got into a fistfight with my husband. I'm seven-and-a-half months pregnant, and the friendly get-together was my baby shower. FML
Today, out of the 35 people invited, only one person showed up to my bridal shower. It was my grandma. FML
Today, my mom dragged me along with her to a baby shower. I was the only guy there. FML
Today, my sister-in-law had the nerve to hijack my baby shower to announce her pregnancy. It's all the more infuriating because we later found out that she's NOT pregnant, just a fucking attention whore. FML
Today, my pregnant wife and I got separated while out shopping. She ended up having meltdown and crying so hard the manager had to call me over the PA. FML
Today, I was yelled at and humiliated by my otherwise awesome brother-in-law for my supposed lack of effort in the planning of a baby shower for my very pregnant sister. The kicker? Her huge, break-my-bank semi-surprise baby shower has been in the works for a month, and is happening this weekend. FML
Today, my girlfriend and I threw a housewarming party we'd been planning for almost 2 months. Out of the 30 plus people I invited from work, literally nobody showed up. Not going to lie, I'm a little depressed about it. It's going to be hard to go to work and pretend I'm not upset. FML
Today, it was supposed to be my night off from the baby. Instead, my wife said she "couldn't even begin to deal", so she locked herself in the bedroom and I had to watch both my baby and my stepson, who both became hyper-needy the second she shut the door. This is the fifth time in a row. FML

It’s very unusual for a mom-to-be to throw her own baby shower. That’s a faux pas because it makes it look like it’s just for the gifts. Generally a friend or relative (but not the husband) throws the baby shower… OP, you have my sympathy - “Hormones” are bad but so is an excessive sense of entitlement and you are dealing with both. About the best you can do is to nod your head and sympathize but try to avoid becoming part of the self-pity-party you wife is now throwing.

You married her and knocked her up. Suck it up. This is the easy part.

What would 4 figurative people look like? Your wife has hormones to blame for irrational behavior, but what's your excuse for throwing around "literally" willy-nilly?
