Today, I turned in my best painting yet for a scholarship competition. For once in my life, I was actually proud of a piece I'd done. I ended up losing the scholarship to some dickface who'd basically just glued together some crap from the dollar store and called it conceptual art. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I lost an art contest to some talentless arsepipe whose piece was literally just a broken heart crudely drawn in her own blood. FML
Today, one of my paintings was accepted into a local art gallery. It would've been a dream come true, had my "best friend" not submitted it under her own name and taken all the credit. FML
Today, I brought my best painting yet to college. I showed it off and everyone loved it. Or almost everyone. When we came back from lunch break, we found someone had sharpied the words "JIZZ BUTT" all over it. That painting took two weeks to finish. FML
Today, I found out that my art project, the one I've been working on for the last two weeks and the first piece I felt really comfortable about turning in, was stolen out of the art cupboard. FML
Today, I finally finished my art project, which was worth 50% of my quarterly grade. I came in first period to give it to my professor. When she turned to look at it, her elbow hit her coffee and spilled it all over the canvas. I got 60%. She said I would have had a 100%, except for the giant coffee stain. FML
Today, after submitting a 500-word essay to a writing contest, I found out that I lost to someone who wrote 3 sentences. FML
Today, I finished a big art project. It was a self-portrait done in acrylics. Proud of my piece, I showed my mom. After some thought her first comment was, "well, I'm either going to insult your art or your face." FML
Today, I was supposed to hear back from a major scholarship competition. After months of waiting, during which my parents were convinced I had won, I discovered that my entry had never been received. Apparently the woman I had confirmed with had had a long day, and lied so that she could go home. FML
Today, while sitting on a bench drawing, some guy went up to me, yelled, “YOUR ART SUCKS” and flipped my sketchpad out of my hands. I’d been working on that piece for hours and now there’s a big black pencil streak on it. FML
Today, I was looking through an old box of personal artwork when I realised the entire box was damp. This was all my own art from the past 3 years, smudged and smelling of cat urine. I was supposed to showcase some of it in a competition winning gallery this month. FML

I can completely relate sadly enough.. I poured my heart and soul into a piece and my prof hated it. I threw a piece of clay on the ground and she thought it was brilliant....

I'm sorry OP, I know how it feels to finally be proud of a painting for once. Not too long ago I painted a badass zebra and felt that it was perfect. First time I had felt like that about one of my many paintings. But let's get back to the point here, I would like to know what you painted and submitted? And did you lose all together or did you just lose to him by second place or something?

Damnit. Ran out of time to edit. Well anyways it's not cool of you to criticize someone else's artwork just because you didn't get the winning name over them. That's kinda a dick move, just saying... Not everyone likes the same things, I keep that in mind all the time because my main focus is animals or landscape. Not everyone likes that so I only show those pieces to people I know will. Or if I feel cocky enough.

I'm sorry you lost, but you don't need to be an ass about it. You don't know how much thought he put into it so don't just judge him like that. Maybe his message was just that awesome.

Art competition... That doesn't make sense. Art is an individual experience, not everyone will see something the same or have the same opinion of it.
