Opening old wounds
Today, I was cleaning out the garage and found one of my old science fair projects. It was disqualified for outside help and cheating. I didn't do either. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, although I received a good grade for my science project, it was disqualified for the science fair that I'd hoped to enter. A beautiful scale model of our solar system was ruined by the Cro-Magnons in one of the other classes; I found pieces of it scattered all over the classroom. The teacher did nothing. FML
Today, I cheated on my math exam. I still failed. FML
Today, I turned in my homework. Too bad I accidentally handed in the printed answer sheet I found online to copy from. FML
Today, I made a multiple choice exam so my friend could practice and get a good grade on his real exam. While I was helping him finish it, the teacher saw it, thought we were cheating and failed us both. FML
Today, I cheated on a math test by writing a couple of equations on my hand. Totally satisfied, I handed my test in, feeling like I had aced it. As I was heading toward the door, I happily waved goodbye to my teacher. She saw everything. FML
Today, I had my end of year physics exam. I wasn't sure about some stuff, so I hid my notes and textbook in the bathroom. Halfway through, I got up, went to the bathroom, and as soon as I picked up the book, forgot what I was looking for. I can't even cheat right. FML
Today, I got my results on a recent, important midterm. During the exam, I'd noticed my instructor had accidentally left an answers page in the test packet, so being honest, I didn't look at them. It turns out she did it on purpose to help us pass. I failed. FML
Today, I saw a person in my class completing a project that was due two periods later and that they had just started in the bathroom. They got a better grade than me. FML
Today, I attempted to cheat on a test by writing some notes on my hand. During the test I had a question. I raised my hand. FML
Today, I found out that my art project, the one I've been working on for the last two weeks and the first piece I felt really comfortable about turning in, was stolen out of the art cupboard. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?

I assume that you did such a good job that they thought you had adult help. I am sorry that happened. It unfortunate that so many kids cheat that on school assignments and projects and don’t do the work themselves - That causes teachers to be hyper vigilant. Obviously they made a mistake in your case. It’s too late now, but at the time you could have protested the judgement and showed them your work that led to the project. The real point of a science fair project is that you learn about the subject and not the credit. I certainly hope you enjoyed doing the project and learned things that help you. In the long run you are better for having done a good job than if you had dumbed it down. Life is long, it could still pay dividends for you in your career or interests as a step on the way.

Let it go. It's not like being bitter when the judge dinged me for having the hypothesis wrong (when, in fact, my hypothesis was correct.) My bitterness only grew when I learned more about scientific method where the hypothesis can be supported or not as still be good science! I mean, some random person's bitterness.
