Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my mother-in-law announced that she's going to be moving into the apartment next to us. Oh joy. FML
Today, we wanted to buy a bigger house just up the street from our current house so all three of our kids could have their own rooms, but we were outbid… by my mother in law, so now we’re stuck in our too small house even longer, and the evil old bitch is now close enough to visit us every day. FML
Today, I found out that my unemployed and very needy mother-in-law will be moving in with us soon. And during my conversation on the phone with her, she expects us to buy a house and my wife and I can "live with her." My wife agrees with all of this. FML
Today, I found out that my mother has been telling several people that my fiancé and I will be moving into her house for the foreseeable future. All because we're moving to a city close by for jobs and are still searching for housing. I found this out from several of the people she told. FML
Today, my mother-in-law asked if she could move in with us. FML
Today, I found out that my mother in-law's flight home is canceled, and that she's staying three more days. FML
Today, my mother-in-law showed up unexpectedly, made passive aggressive comments to my kids in front of me about how we need a bigger place to live, and asked questions about our income. We're actually trying to move soon, and just hadn't told them yet so they wouldn't try to follow us. FML
Today, my mother-in-law yelled from across the house for me to come quickly. She sounded frantic, so I rushed and asked what was wrong. She said, "Nothing." and that she just wanted to remind me that she hates my guts. She'll be living here with me and my wife for the next two months. FML
Today, my mother-in-law told my fiancé that I had to leave and wasn’t allowed to live there anymore. I own the house. She’s mad because I locked the door so she couldn't walk in anytime she wanted. FML
Today, I came home from a week-long vacation, only to find my mother-in-law didn't just dog-sit while I was gone; she moved in, along with all her possessions, and seems to think it's a permanent deal. FML

egg the house
FarSide 23
You two can become baking buddies, and she can help you decorate your bland living room.

Remember Step Brothers? Get someone to put on a show if she ever looks at the house.

My paternal grandmother gets along with my mother. I'm pretty sure she actually likes her more than her own son XD

I LOVE my mother in law to death. She's the sweetest lady. My mom is good to my fiancé too. It's our dads that can be problematic lol.

My in laws are amazing. I got extremely lucky on that one. They tell my husband all the time that they like me more than him :)

I love my in-laws, but I still wouldn't want them living that close.
Naena 3
You can still be on good terms with the in-laws, but it's nice to have some privacy with you're spouse.

Buy the place before she does!
taazer 12
Excactly what i thought :D
muchagente 5
and then explain to her why you don't let her live there. easy!
DaFudge 6
Do what they did from Step Brothers. Dress up as a Nazi and KKK member.
SteveTheJanitor 6
Or sneak into the house and do someone's make up so they look like they're dead and sit in front of the door so when they walk in they see a dead person being held by an alive one.,.......

Direct her to the other side of town. Talk about all the recent robberies on your side and the sex offenders.
bunny911 16
Not to mention, all the vandals and graffiti artists.
Isoldael 27
Tell whoever is selling the place some terrible story about your mom. Like, how she has a wireless network called "the rapist downstairs". Or how she makes people pay for milk duds (the horror!)
BelleBelle_fml 11
Previous FML reference fail.
Isoldael 27
That was not meant as a serious reference, just annoyed by how many FMLs aren't even remotely FMLs (or even funny to make up for their lack of FML-ness). There is an apartment available? Big deal, unless OP lives in a town with only 3 available apartments. There's also this thing called "communication". OP could talk about it with mom. If they're not talking, then resort to lame tricks like the ones I suggested before.
TheFakeFamilyGuy 10
They're selling the house. Shouldn't matter to them who's buying.
muchagente 5
not to forget the little girl watching out of the living room at night.
pandora_geass 9
Rather, watermelon the house.

Hmm, looks like you have to dead-bolt the doors and make sure you close the blinds and keep quiet when doing the dirty!
FarSide 23
And keep it up everyday. At night, pretend like its Halloween and you ran out of candy. No lights, no candy, no answering doors.
