Today, I found an old toy that I gave to my daughter several years ago. It was still unopened, and long forgotten, so I decided to re-gift it to one of my friend's children. My daughter immediately remembered her "favorite" toy and started crying inconsolably. FML

Today, my daughter had a meltdown when I told her I donated some of her old toys to Goodwill. It turns out Toy Story has taught her that toys have feelings and that she has a meaningful relationship with them. She's in her teens. FML
Today, I gave my 7-year-old a snowglobe. I had spent the last week deconstructing it, putting an action figure of his favorite cartoon character inside, and then putting it back together. Later, I find it smashed into pieces because he wanted to "play with the toy it came with." FML
Today, I finally bought the toy my two year-old son always wanted. He would always tap on the TV when the commercial for it would appear. I gave him the gift, and he started playing with the bag it came in. FML
Today, I went to my son's friend's birthday party and felt really proud of giving a great gift. It just so happened that I regifted the same gift that his friend's mother gave to my son the month before, because I forgot to check the name on the bag. It looked like she was about to faint. FML
Today, my 8 year-old niece gave me back a Fluttershy plush I gifted her 4 years ago. When I told her it was a gift from the heart, she insisted on exchanging it for something of equal value. FML
Today, I went to visit some family out of state for my niece's birthday. I couldn't think of what to get an 8-year-old so I got her a Barbie doll. Everyone else got her money, iPods, game consoles, etc. When she got to mine she asked "how do I turn it on?" Then threw it away when she couldn't. FML
Today, I came home after doing some Black Friday shopping for Christmas presents. I told my husband I got the must-have toy our daughter has been dying for. As soon as I said it, I heard squealing and turned around to see her standing right behind me. There goes the surprise. FML
Today, my manager told me to throw out some of the old toys at the daycare we work at. I can't because I've seen Toy Story 3, and thinking about them in a dump makes me cry. I'm 28. FML
Today, my two year old daughter did not want to leave the toy store, when I picked her up she started screaming at the top of her lungs, "YOU'RE NOT MY DADDY!". FML
Today, my extended family came over for Christmas. I forgot to get a present for my extremely sensitive aunt. I took a gift from my re-gift pile and wrapped it quickly. Little did I remember that it was the same gift she gave me last year. She noticed. FML

Yea, I used to love to play with packaged Hot Wheels as a kid. I feel for her, the poor girl.

My mom bought a calligraphy kit for me and my sister for Christmas. To this day I don't know whose name was on it or why my sister and I both insisted we get to use it first but there was terrible horrible fighting aaaaand it was never touched....

Children are like that for the most part. They always want what the "other kid" has. Next time, be a little more discreet when giving away unused toys, or at least ask her first if she's old enough.

I'm so glad my mum doesn't do this. actually, for birthdays and stuff she tends to get me the Disney limited edition dolls. they are NEVER coming out of their boxes.

I remember growing up my brother and I would get a Power Ranger toy whenever we needed a new villain or hero. We used them DBZ style. We also had toys from other shows. Gave them new names and such. Our mom never threw or gave them away even when broke. Because we were poor we used the broken toys in a new way, like a battle injury. To this day we would never even think of getting rid of those toys, and its been years since we've used them.

This would be the only time I would actually hit a child hard enough to do damage. Do NOT cry about your "favorite" toy if you've never even looked at it and played with it.
