Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my latest date told me to lose his number and never contact him again all because I have "pronouns" in my Instagram bio. FML
Today, my boyfriend has never gotten along with my dad, but this afternoon during what I thought was a completely normal conversation, he just stood up, yelled he couldn’t take my dad anymore, punched him in the nose, dumped me, and drove away. FML
Today, a boy I'm not even dating took it upon himself to tell me that we would never work out. Via text message. FML
Today, I was told off by a random woman who said that I should be ashamed of myself for dating such an older man. I was having dinner with my dad. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because I took a walk without asking for permission. He thought guys would be hitting on me the entire walk, and that I chose to go alone to pick up numbers. FML
Today, I ended a relationship because she told me that I was "like a father." FML
Today, I had to tell my boyfriend his dad was sending me inappropriate texts that made me feel uncomfortable. I tried to make him stop, but he kept going until I felt like I needed to tell my boyfriend. Who's now broken up with me because of it. FML
Today, after 4 days of avoiding me and screening his calls, my 24-year-old boyfriend sent his mother to break up with me on his behalf. FML
Today, the guy I was seeing told me it wasn’t gonna work out and that he wished me the best. Apparently I acted “too desperate” for his liking. Gee, I’m sorry, but I guess showing basic decency like buying you a birthday present, buying you lunch everyday, and allowing you to use my Netflix, AKA being loving, is too much. FML
Today, my 23 year old boyfriend of 2 years was forced to dump me, over the phone, by his mother. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

That needs more context. Were you talking about him becoming the father of your “children to be” perhaps too soon in the relationship? Were you asking him to be your “daddy” in your own relationship? Or has boyfriend had a prior bad experience with a prior “fatherless girlfriend”? Fatherhood and parenthood in general are big responsibilities (the reason some men and boys run away from that responsibility) and not everyone is ready for that kind of obligation. But people often change at different stages in life, so that doesn’t mean that you won’t ever meet someone ready to be a husband and/or father. If the issue is a prior bad relationship with a prior “fatherless girlfriend” that’s not really your fault. But sometimes if you get burned, then you stay far away from anything that seems like that bad experience - So maybe it’s not entirely boyfriend’s “fault” either. The sad truth is that there will usually be more failed or un-launched relationships than there will be good long term relationships. That’s what dating is really about - weeding out relationships that won’t work and finding one that will. It’s also sometimes a time of self-discovery when we fine tune our appearance and social skills to present an enticing but authentic version of ourselves. Ultimately you have to be yourself - If you act like or pretend to be someone else, how will you find someone who likes you as you are? But some disclosures may be best revealed a bit more slowly if there is a risk of misunderstanding. By the way, it’s also possible that the breakup had little to do with the reason you were given. Sometimes people lie to cover other decisions they have made. But regardless of the truth or not of the reason you were given - It’s over now. Give yourself an appropriate time to grieve what was not to be and move on. It’s pointless to stalk an ex or obsess over what they are doing now - That only prevents or delays your healing and finding another relationship.

I'm guessing he was looking for an excuse to do this and that happened to be the one. Hug to you, OP, you are strong and valued

Sadly, I've seen a lot of "men" decide that a woman who grew up without a father HAS to be crazy. They're also the ones who tend to think tattoos and piercings (outside of one in each lobe) means a woman sleeps around. You don't need this dude OR his mentality.
