Today, I was mugged on my way to the bus stop. With no money or mobile, I started to panic about the exam I had, and ran the 3.5 miles to get to there. When I staggered up to the building only 20 minutes after the exam started, the university staff wouldn't let me sit it as I couldn't prove my identity. FML

Today, I ran 5 miles to catch the bus I take to university after missing my connection. When I got to the bus stop, I realized I had left my U-Pass on my desk at home. On top of the assignment that was due. FML
Today, I was mugged while on my way to the bookstore. I'd saved up for months to make a mega-purchase of study materials for my major, only for it to be taken away in a few seconds by some lowlife thug. FML
Today, on the way to an exam, I got hit by a car. I got back up and limped to class. The teacher wouldn’t let me in because I was 10 seconds late. FML
Today, after studying all night for an exam, I ran out to catch the bus. On my way to the bus, my hair got caught in a branch for some minutes. Thinking I'd missed the bus but thankfully didn't, I went on. A few minutes later I remembered that my exam had been postponed for 3 hours today. FML
Today, I reached my exam center late after taking the wrong metro twice, only to find out that I forgot my calculator at home. FML
Today, I missed my University entrance exam because of heavy traffic. I was stuck at one intersection for over an hour. The real kicker? It took me less than 10 minutes to drive home. FML
Today, after volunteering all day at the homeless shelter, I was mugged on my way to my car. FML
Today, I accidentally set off an alarm at the school I work for. No one was there, I didn't have the code or password the company needed, my boss wouldn't answer his phone, three policemen interrogated me and asked for ID, but realized I left home without my wallet. There was nothing I could do. I cried. FML
Today, I went to college, where I'm studying for my dream job. Despite getting up at 5am to catch the earliest bus into town, I arrived ten minutes late. My professor knows my circumstances, but is still threatening to kick me off the course if I don't "arrive on time like everyone else." FML
Today, I got mugged. I also got an extra kick in the face for not having money in my wallet. FML

#104 maybe at your uni you can't even get into a building without id but that isn't the case everywhere! #106 usually universities are very large compared to high schools, so staff wouldn't necessarily know the op, unless it is a very small campus or something. and for what sounds like a very important exam, you can't just explain the situation - you might get away with that on a small assignment or something (depending where you go, of course), but for something like a final exam you would normally need documentation of some sort, otherwise anyone could claim that something like this happened to get out of an exam they weren't prepared for.

my university would definitely do that. sucks, report it to police and file a complaint with the department. The circumstances should make it void or make it so you can retake it at a later date. you can't get into any university building without an ID, let alone sit the exam

since when do you need identity to go to school, the uni staff know you surely? and you could have just explained the situation...

When you go to huge colleges and uni's often the tests are taken in separate building, and you have to show identity to show you are a student.
