Nice parents you've got there

Today, I was called a whore by my own parents, simply because I’ve never had a relationship that lasted longer than a month. Everyone I’ve ever dated has dumped me. FML

A few things: 1. It depends on your age, but getting consistently dumped after a month as a teen could be the opposite of whoring, because they may (or may not) have dumped you for not putting out (happened to me once). 2. You could be an asshole. Not saying you are, but you could be if you have a pattern of being dumped. 3. You could be too clingy. Desperation isn't cute. 4. You could be not clingy enough (aka you come across as disinterested in the relationship). This happened to me with #2 and #3 before I realised that I liked having friends, but didn't care enough for a relationship where my affection was 'tallied' by whether I called them every day or not, or spent hours a day chatting or texting. Your parents are buttholes regardless of any of the above though. Who you do or don't sleep with as long as you're being safe is seriously none of their business.

Loving others is hard and cost money. But loving yourself is usually cheaper and more easy. If your relationships only last a month, it could be a sign of desperation. Love and nurture yourself. Screw other people and screw your asshole parents.

Relationships can be tough, takes practice. A couple of books that may be helpful are 1) Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment 2) The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts Could have saved myself a lot of grief had I read these years ago.
