Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my psychiatrist diagnosed me with a personality disorder. So now I have no friends, no job, no love, but I've got a personality disorder. FML
Today, I had a date with a man who works as a psychiatrist. He diagnosed me with borderline personality disorder during dinner. FML
Today, I was told I have bipolar disorder. I'm 31. It took so long to diagnose because my mom always figured I was "just a super bitch half the time." FML
Today, I learned that there is an actual medical term for having trouble making decisions of any kind. I'm not sure if I should feel understood because I know it's an actual disorder, or be angry that people still believe it's fake when I show it to them. FML
Today, my boyfriend is blaming me for his recent diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. Apparently, I should have just kept on tolerating all of his explosive outbursts, instead of "forcing" him to start couples' therapy with me. FML
Today, I was diagnosed with intermittent explosive disorder, meaning that I involuntarily fly into a rage without provocation. It's only controlled by healthy eating and sleeping. I work too much to get any sleep, I don't make enough money to eat well, and my disorder limits my ability to find a job that pays more. FML
Today, I was diagnosed with a self-destructive personality among other things. I saw everything from my past instantly, like photographic memory recall. It was utterly terrifying, from extreme childhood drug-induced trauma that continues to this day. FML
Today, I, an extreme social introvert, who can’t stand being around people for more than 10 minutes, has just been diagnosed with an incurable brain disorder that will increasingly require other people to be around me to monitor me and run my life. All of which, to me, feels worse than having the disorder. FML
Today, I realized that as both of my sons have been diagnosed with ADHD and Autism, they are just like me. I guess that I'm really good at masking or the perimenopausal rage has me questioning my whole life. FML
Today, I realized my parents are pretty much single-handedly responsible for all of the mental illnesses and personality disorders I have now. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

I have borderline personality disorder. I was diagnosed with it in the psych ward which I was in for major depression disorder. you're only your brains bitch because you're letting that happen. bpd is not as bad as everyone thinks. learn to manage it

Mental illness is vastly different for everyone. It's not fair or appropriate of you to say "it's not that bad" as if everyone experienced the same exact situation you did.

Yours must be great, my partners is really really bad. My family has it as well, and severity varies by person to person. It’s not all that simple

It's a real emotion, but the BPD is probably amplifying it. That's how it seems to work in my family

I have bipolar disorder, and sometimes my family and those around me have trouble determining if I’m being hyper or having an episode. It’s extremely frustrating

Now that you know, you can do something about it. It’s not easy or overnight. But it’s worth it.

I agree. I have a neurological issue that affects my brain and some days I can’t tell if my stupid for the day is from my brain thing or actually me

Hey there OP I was diagnosed two years ago. I was scared at first with the diagnosis but nothing has changed. It is just a name for what is going on. What I found helpful was reading into BPD and talking to others with it. It is difficult but with counselling and therapy you can get better. I’m on anxiety meds and mood stabilisers and have been getting better. I’m far better than I was over two years ago. You are not alone and there are plenty of us around. If you need someone to talk to just send a message my way. Hang in there and things do get better.
