Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, it was my birthday. Also today, same as the past five years, my family forgot my mine and threw a party for my 5-year-old twin sisters who I share a birthday with. FML
Today, it was my daughter's 11th birthday party. One kid broke a vase, another lost a (baby) tooth, and two kids, including mine, tested positive for Covid. My kid parties harder than I ever have. FML
Today, we celebrated our daughter's sixth birthday. Out of the 30 invited, 7 showed up. The last one to cancel this morning told us she was ill. My daughter was in tears as this meant the last remaining playmate couldn't come. My wife later saw her tagged on Facebook at another party. FML
Today, I was at my sixteenth birthday party. My guests consisted of my grandma who I live with, and my 2-year-old cousin she was babysitting. FML
Today, I went to a party. No one there was under 60. I'm 16 and it was the only party I've been to all year. FML
Today, it's my birthday. I am a triplet. In my first class, everyone sang happy birthday to my sister. Her friends got her balloons too. My other sister's friends got her flowers. Everyone forgot I was their sister and all of my own friends forgot that it was my birthday. FML
Today, I emailed 10 parents inviting them to my son's birthday party. All 10 emailed back saying their kids had to get a cavity filled. FML
Today, it was my mother's birthday. My 5 year old brother and 85 year old grandma decided to decorate the house with balloons and a blow up "people" they found in my room. FML
Today, and recently, many of my friends have been acting strangely. My birthday is coming up soon, so I thought maybe they were planning a surprise party. Nope. Turns out they've just been secretly hanging out without me. FML
Today, all of my friends bailed from the birthday party I was throwing myself. This was also after they had encouraged me for months to have one, knowing I'd never had my birthday celebrated before. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

It shouldnt be called a party.

Perhaps a memorial would be a better way of describing it...

i agree with #9 your so disrespectful this isn't a fml this is just sad for the parents and your disrespectful by putting it on here
bentleysdad11611 0
As I do agree with you we all know FML ppl watch this app closely and decide witch FMLs make it so they saw this and still decided to post
bootje 5
Yes but at one point OP decided to post this FML, so it is disrespectful. Because it's disrespectful to complain when YOU're not the one who has lost three children.
Tess_fml 7
Careful, 14, the FML Police will come after you for saying that a post isn't an FML. Happened to me twice already.. But anyway.. I'm just speechless at this FML.. I had to read it twice to take in what it actually said.. wow.. just wow

That's terrible...

they were all 1 when they died? how sad, but the parents need help. do they have any other children? How do they feel about this?
mamaxony 0
what?!? they were all the same age?!? no way....I mean they were triplets....so I mean maybe it's possible they were all the same age...
awesomeooo3 0
He obviously meant it in the sense "so they were 1..." not "so ALL three of then were 1...?!"

It's not like triplets all drop dead at the same time. This is more than likely from being premature/ having a birth defect. I think what #16 might have meant is it's sad they all died at the same time. It's not unusual to lose a child when it's a multiple birth but it's sad that they lost all 3. Just because you share a date of birth doesn't mean you have to share a date of death.

Crude yet logical

It would be more respectful for the dead to attend their grave than have a birthday party.

not in all cultures. I think it was a different kind of thing. they weren't trying to mourn, you know?

wow dude ur an ass...I understand it's not the best place to go but just be respectful and think of the parents's pain

@#9, 14 They're not disrespectful, it is honestly creepy. It is okay for the parents to not have gotten over their children's deaths and still miss them, but having a birthday party and bringing other people into it takes it to a new level. There is something wrong there. However, OP probably shouldn't have put this on here.

I have to agree if the parents wanna celebrate there long dead kids probably best to do it in private

it's really sad that you'd ever post this on fml. the parents obviously haven't moved on. you're awful. I'm sorry, I had to say that.

i agree with you. and some of the other things people have put on here too. they obviously do not understand...

for someone from a country built on independence and autonomy you have a hard time applying these concepts in the real world.
OrgasmicBunnies 9
I don't see how this is disrespectful. I mean come on, sure they died when they were 1 but, it's been 9 years. sometimes you have to let things go and move on to better yourself. in those 9 years you could have had Thirty 9 year olds.
victimization 0
it was disrespectful to the parents to basically make fun of them on this site. if a birthday party for their dead children is how they cope with their deaths, then it should have never been exploited on a website.
DjeePee 25
It's not like the parents are going to read it...
sxe_beast 11
You don't know that DJeePee. Millions of people look at this website. The birthrate for triplets is like 2 per 1,000. The likelihood of someone celebrating their dead triplets birthday 9 years later is very small. So its very much possible that the people the OP were referring to could read this.
SteelCladAngel 0
it would have been disrespectful if op had said 'my crazy ______ invited me to the 10th birthday of their triplets who have been dead over 9 years' instead op probably meant "I've been invited to a 10th birthday party for triplets who have been gone for over 9 years....I'm feeling a bit awkward/uncomfortable"
allthatremains25 0
wow. you're disrespectul.

# 22 have you ever lost a child? I can tell you as a parent who has, that is something you can NEVER "move on" from. When you lose a child, no matter how old they were when they passed, you are literally losing a part of yourself. I hope to God you never tell a bereaved parent to "move on." That is one of the worst things you could ever say.
OrgasmicBunnies 9
342, I have lost my close father, I may not know how losing a child feels but I know how it does to lose family. it's ok to greave but after awhile Its just creepy. sometimes you just have to let go.
archos58 10
You expect to lose a parent...but not to outlive your child. I recently lost my son shortly after he turned 13, totally unexpected. Two very very different things.
