Today, after being dumped by my boyfriend of two years, I poured my heart out to my dad. He nodded and looked sympathetic throughout. Afterwards, I asked him what I should do. He replied, "How the hell should I know?" and awkwardly left my room. FML
Today, I came home crying after my boyfriend dumped me for another girl. My dad told me to come tell him what was wrong. I sat down and let it all out, after which he looked up from his book, into my eyes, and gave me his loving advice: "Just cry about it and move on to another bastard." FML
Today, I was feeling down following a recent breakup. My dad tried to comfort me by patting me on the back and saying everyone goes through ups and downs, "Like when I found out your mum and I were having a boy." I'm their only son. FML
Today, I went to my father for advice. I've been seeing a wonderful girl for the past month, and I feel terrible about it, because I already have a girlfriend. He said "Kill yourself" and that if I "can't even do that right" then to get out of his house, because he disowns me. FML
Today, I was sitting in my room when my dad walked in to talk. He said I'm not the son he'd hoped for, and that he'd been let down as a father. He said I should change the way I am so that he could love me more. It was the longest conversation I've had with my dad in years. FML
Today, I was having an emotional breakdown. I'm unhappy a lot and don't know why. It's very confusing. My dad yelled at me, telling me, "You have no right to be sad!" I'm even more confused now. Help. FML
Today, my boyfriend dumped me because he says I need to learn how to be happy without relying on him. I'm not a clinger, I'm just unhappy because my dad recently passed away, my best friend turned on me, and I lost out on the exchange program of my dreams. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend has been cheating on me. My dad noticed my depression and got me to tell him what was wrong. I told him everything, and trusting him to have an intelligent suggestion, I asked him what I should do. He shrugged and said, "Fuck, sue him, I dunno." FML
Today, my dad told me that I'm a weak and negative person because I suffer from depression and anxiety, then he told me to just snap out of it. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I broke up after three years. I came home and when my dad asked what was wrong, I told him. His first reaction was, "Well damn it. Who'll go fishing with me now?" FML

I'm sorry but ydi, you guys were together for 3 months, not 3 years. You shouldn't feel that much that quick. I've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half and I don't even feel that way. My friend is just like that and just like her, you need to grow up and move on.

Why would you be suicidal after three months? That's not even a legitimate period of time in which to develop those many anniversary things couples like to do. Fair enough, your dad could have been gentler, but really, you're being melodramatic. I managed to shrug off a month-long relationship with a woman I'd been into for two years, and I have bipolar depression, but I didn't decide life wasn't worth living, no. I went out and found someone prettier with nicer boobs and got on with my life.

Dude, it's only 3 months. Get over it. If it was that short, it just wasn't going to turn out good had it lasted longer... This is coming from personal experience... It's not that life wasn't worth living, it's that he isn't worth dating. Are you a high school student? You've got plenty of people to meet up with. Middle School/Junior High? 3 months? you shouldn't be feeling that depressed about life from that. I know it sucks but life goes on. 3 months of dating is usually that beginning segment of a relationship the part when both people think "OMG I'm in LOVE!" but they really aren't. Anyways if you guys broke up he wasn't worth it anyways.
