Today, I learned that there is a limit to being thrifty. For example buying a pan from the dollar store is most likely going to cost a lot more than a few dollars. Especially when it melts all over your stove which you now have to replace. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my mom came over for dinner. She lost her mind, screaming and yelling, because my oven melted the dollar store cooking dish that she insisted on using. Never mind the fact I’m going to have to pay a couple hundred, if not a thousand dollars for a new stove. Oh no, she’s out a whole buck. FML
Today, I learned that just because the actual part of the pan that does touch the stove isn't hot doesn't mean that the handle won't give you third degree burns, a broken nose from passing out from the pain, and an expensive trip to the emergency room. FML
Today, I was telling my friend how much I love my 20-year-old kitchen scale, because it has this one handy function that even new ones don’t have. Later, my mom melted it on the stove and isn’t even convinced she should buy me a new one. FML
Today, I learned the hard way that my oven mitt has a hole. Time to get a new one, whenever my finger stops burning. FML
Today, I discovered that the more money I earn, the more my personal belongings break down on me. FML
Today, I reached the point in my life where Target is the "expensive" store. FML
Today, in an attempt to be frugal, I tried to repair my own sometimes-faulty toaster. Turns out I unplugged the wrong kitchen appliance, which I only discovered by electrocuting myself while pulling it apart. Now it's definitely broken, will need replacing, and I have a burn. FML
Today, I learned that the new granite countertop in my parents' house cost $12,000. Coincidentally, this is also the amount of money I would have needed to go to the college of my dreams instead of the cheaper school I currently attend. FML
Today, I'm so broke that I got buyer's remorse after buying a $2 bottle of pancake syrup. FML
Today, after I'd told everyone I would finally be starting meal prepping to save money, on the very first day, I forgot every container in my fridge, so I still had to buy my lunch during my lunch break. FML

wow some people are being really mean. try calling the company and telling them their pan killed your oven. perhaps they'll cover the repair/ new oven costs.

It means being cheap. Also, OP is Canadian.

If you don't know how to speak English, and you obviously don't if you are unfamiliar with a common word like thrifty, try getting yourself an English dictionary.

did you even look at the pan before you bought it? It's pretty obvious to tell if its MELTING material. YDI for being stupid and cheap. We're in a recession, not the 2nd great depression.

"Sue the bastards!" was my first reaction, too, but then I realized that there *isn't* any kind of metal that would melt on a regular stove. It had to have been a plastic toy, or other non-pan thing that OP tried to use as a pan. FYL for not being able to tell cookware from non-cookware.

There IS a metal that can melt like that. Its that type of metal they use for prank spoons. The one where you stir something with and half the spoon dissapears(melts/ dissolves in drink) when you take it out.

I just moved and have no cookware and can't afford to buy any pans or takeout until next payday. I feel your pain : /
