Today, I woke up to my mother telling me to sit up and get dressed because we had to go before it was too late. I had just woken up from surgery. She didn't want to be stuck in traffic. FML

Today, I'm on bed rest after a major surgery. I can walk to the bathroom but can barely raise my hands. At the hospital, my mom gave this dramatic speech of being there whenever I needed her. When I asked her to come make me breakfast, she didn’t show up til noon then complained I was in a bad mood. FML
Today, I woke up to the news that my mom's in jail. FML
Today, I had debilitating stomach cramps and told my mom, but she said she was too tired to take me to the ER. I had appendicitis. Thanks Mom. FML
Today, I had three days off work. My mom woke me up for work on all three of those days, despite my repeatedly asking her not to. When I actually had to go to work this morning, she didn't wake me up. At least I wasn't late. FML
Today, my boyfriend's bitch of a mother had surgery and now I'm expected to be her at-home nurse. I haven't been able to sit down for more than 5 minutes thanks to her and I've barely slept. FML
Today, my girlfriend woke up very early in terrible pain. I drove her to the hospital and fell asleep in the waiting area. When I woke up, my car was gone and it was 9am. She had assumed I just walked home (32 miles), so she took the car. I was the only one in the waiting area. FML
Today, our dog became ill. My mom wasted no time attending her every needs and became very distressed. When I had appendicitis a few months ago, my mom told me to “sleep it off” and a friend had to take me to the hospital. She only called once to bitch at me for “doing this on purpose to make her feel bad.” FML
Today, I woke up with chest pain. It hurt just to breathe, but my parents made me go to school anyway. We're now sitting in the emergency room. FML
Today, since I'm still recovering from my surgery and can't drive, my daughter drove me to the doctor. When I was done and walked outside, she was nowhere to be seen. Then I got a text, saying, "Sorry, I forgot I have to be somewhere." The closest bus stop to our house is miles away. FML
Today, I crawled into my mom's room to tell her my stomach was in massive pain. She ended up throwing me out of the room while spraying me with Lysol. My appendix was about to burst and I needed surgery. FML

I'm assuming it's because the mother didn't want to be stuck in traffic and was willing to sacrifice her child's wellbeing to prevent that from happening, thus creating the idea that she has road rage. If she has road rage, she is likely an unsafe driver. If she drives unsafely, she could get into an accident. If OP was in the car, they could need surgery after the accident. It was a stretch of a joke.

Well, on the bright side it sounds like you were able to get up despite just having surgery. I know when I had my gallbladder removed, I was an inpatient for 4 days because they weren't able to do the non-invasive pinhole surgery on me. Left the place with a big four inch incision on top of another incision scar I had from a previous abdominal surgery. If your dad is in the picture, tell him to talk to her. That's incredibly selfish, regardless of what kind of procedure it was.

Good thing it wasn't up to your mom when you left. Hopefully you had a good post-op nurse that explained to your mom why you can't leave immediately after waking up and made your mom stay in the waiting room if she didn't stop.

After one of my surgeries, my parents were pushing me to hurry up and pee so we could go too. Our cat is diabetic and we had to get home by 6 to give her a shot. I've learned and now pretend I've gone pee so I can get home earlier. Your own bed is more comfy then the hospital one anyways, and it's easier to heal when your parent isn't staring at their watch the whole time.
