Heart-wrenching

Today, it hit me that my dad didn't cry when I moved out, he did so only when I came back later to pick up my cat. FML

Halloween

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.

neither of my parents cried when I moved out...I didn't know they were supposed to?

Maybe it was delayed reaction. Maybe it didn't really sink in until you took the cat. Maybe you showing up made him realize he missed you more than he expected. Lots of ways this could happen without it meaning he loved the cat more than you.

it hurt him when u had to leave but when u came back for the cat it was more real....maybe.

For him his cat is his song : his cat stick heavens ?

so....maybe it hit him that you moved out as you came back? I think you are kinda confused

NOO!!! Why did you take the cat!?!? you horrible monster!!!! TT_TT

your dads a pussy. or maybe he has allergies...I dunno.

Did you ever think that you taking the cat was a signified a permanent thing? That moving out is one thing, taking EVERYTHING you own and LOVE, IE the cat means you are really gone. And I didn't know parents where supposed to cry when their kids moved out?

when i moved out my parents had tears of joy, not only cause i was leaving, but i took my pain-in-the-ass beagle with me.

Your dad doesn't miss you because you were a mistake.

This happened to me too. My dad didn't cry when I went off to college, but when I took Tigger, his "little buddy" to live with me in my first apartment, Dad got misty eyed. When I brought Tigger back three weeks later because he howled all night long, Dad RAN outside, flung open my car door and started hugging...the cat. He forgot to tell me hello.
