Grades go both ways
Today, I was scolding my 8 year-old son because he was getting bad grades in school. I told him that he should get straight "A"s like his friend Ceejay. He told me that comparing him to Ceejay was unfair. When I asked why, he said, "Because his dad is actually smart." FML

There's no need to compare to the other kids in the class. What if the kids parents do everything for him? Tell your child to do what they can do, don't push them to be something more than what they are. YDI. And #2, scolding doesn't necessarily mean hitting.

You don't compare your kids to other kids. It's unfair and incredibly rude to your child. If he's not getting A's, maybe something else is up. Maybe CJ's dad actually helps his kid with his homework? And your kid's 8 years old. They don't even get letter grades yet I don't think. You should be encouraging him.

In any good school the majority of the students will get all C's. Anything other than that, and your school is providing you with grade inflation, rather than an accurate assesment of your child's ability. A "C" grade is average, and what you can expect, at best, from roughly 70 percent of the population. A "B" grade is better than average and what you can expect, at best, from roughly 20 percent of the population. An "A" grade, is excellent, means the skills are already mastered, and at best, can only be expected from roughly 10 percent of the population. If the child is getting all A's, and the grades aren't horrifically over inflated than its quite clear the child isn't being challenged in his work and isn't mastering his learning potential. That's why good school push A children into classes where they earn B's and C's because learning comes before grades on report cards

you are obviously stupid, because "ceejay" is spelled CJ. idiot. that's your fault, and you need to stop comparing- besides, HE'S 8! It doesn't matter!

people are going too hard on you for comparing it happens, and sometimes it helps to compare everyone being "unique" doesnt always mean theyre useful or doing well. (Im just saying sometimes its ok, but its not like... good... either) just, try to help the kid more and hes a kid dont put too much importance in his comment :P

YOU SUCK, ASSHOLE! For comparing HIM to another KID when he's EIGHT YEARS OLD and making him feel INSECURE and probably if you CONTINUE it, he'll end up HATING his FREAKING LIFE!!!!
