Today, my dad all but told me that he ignores me and my advice on purpose, just so he can yell at me for pestering him when I get annoyed, and being ignored really ticks me off. Then my mom, who is the more level-headed one, didn't even scold him for it. This is why I have acute self-esteem issues. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my dad is infuriating by increasingly asking me to do things around the house, but because he doesn’t like how I do them he yells at me and then does it himself. It’s almost like he cares more about inventing excuses to yell at me than he does to actually get things done. FML
Today, my dad completely disregards my mental health, insists mental disorders are just excuses for laziness in my generation, so even though I have crippling depression, at times he has no sympathy and will mercilessly bully me into “snapping out of it” and to "get a damn job already." FML
Today, I realized my parents, especially my dad, interrupt me so often when I'm talking that I've become completely accustomed to being interrupted whenever I speak. When they aren't interrupting me, they're either ignoring me, or just not acknowledging me. They still wonder why I don't talk much. FML
Today, I've finally accepted that my parents do not love me. They constantly do things that I hate, then casually remark to other people, "I think he's mad at me now." They also know my hearing is insanely hypersensitive, yet they're still obnoxiously loud for no apparent reason all the time. FML
Today, I learned that now that my mom is dead, and my dad doesn't need my emotional support during her illness anymore, he's going to go back to insulting me every time he talks to me. FML
Today, my mom spent an hour lecturing me on how I'm a doormat who lets people walk all over me, and that I needed to be more assertive. So I stood up and told my dad, no, I am not going on that forestry camp he wants me to go to. Mom sat silently by as he screamed and grounded me for the entire summer. FML
Today, I learned from my parents that admitting you're ignoring someone who is trying to give you genuinely helpful advice is not rude, but snapping at said person for ignoring you is in fact very rude. Narcissistic parents at their finest. FML
Today, I finally confronted my father about how rude and tactless he is. It wasn't until I'd finished my rant that I realized he was ignoring me. He then told me to get him something to drink. I replied, "Since you asked so rudely, you can go get it yourself." As soon as I'd said that, he grunted and repeated himself. FML
Today, my dad told me that I'm a weak and negative person because I suffer from depression and anxiety, then he told me to just snap out of it. FML
Today, I had an appointment. After 2 hours of waiting in the sun, my mom finally picked me up and lectured me on how irresponsible my dad was for not communicating with her. Not 5 minutes after I got home, my dad showed up and gave me the same exact lecture about my mom. FML

I don’t want to be a jerk; I try to contribute as much positivity to comment sections as I can. That being said…have you considered that this might be partially your problem? You give your dad unwanted advice, get mad when he ignores you, then blame him for your self-esteem issues? Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t know the exact situation. Maybe your dad is a truly messed up individual. I’m basing my response on the small, somewhat vague bit of information provided. Stay safe. Don’t be like me—make smart decisions.

You give your dad unwanted advice, get mad when he ignores you, then blame him for your self-esteem issues? Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t know the exact situation. It's his life, let him handle the consequences of his decisions. I'm in a similar situation with my mother. If she won't listen to me the first couple of times and gets aggressive in her tone, I take the hint and back off, no matter how much she's harming herself in the long run. I still worry very much but it's ultimately up to her what to do.

dude stop trying to parent your dad, he don't need advice from a kid. focus on yourself and your problems. Oh and your self esteem is YOUR responsibility.
