Today, I left my car in a disreputable area. After picking it up later on, I heard a strange "clonking" sound. The clonking suddenly stopped when my wheel fell off; someone had stolen my wheel nuts. FML

You mean lug nuts. WTF are wheel nuts. OP is dumb it would have been vibrating the whole car...which should be a clear giveaway something is wrong. Don't buy cheap autozone lugs either, happened to me.

most wheels have a different nut on that stops this kind of thing happening; the special nut will have a peculiar shape that only a special socket will fit onto, ydi for somehow failing at that basic security measure. (No puns intended)

that hapened to my mom on all for wheels but they left one nut? screw? on each tire u should get one of the key lock things that's what my dad got u can get it at auto body o a car dealership i think
