Denial
Today, I came out of the closet. I came out on Facebook to spare myself awkward conversations and gossip. I wrote a deeply meaningful status about my partner and my pride in who I was. The only responses were, "Lol", "Hacked", and similar remarks. FML

Should have done it in person. No possibility of hacking that way (or people saying lol hacked)

I'm sorry. I feel bad for you but Facebook is not for "deep meaningful" thoughts, it's for cat pictures. I don't know what tou expected saying that on Facebook. Build up some courage and say it in person, if they make fun of you, you can't be you around them so just give them up, forget about them.

Listen, if you had to announce that you had a partner, it's not a life partner, it's just a sex partner. Partner does not mean "person I **** semi-regularly." If that was your partner, you would not have had to come out. So, great, you're out. Now grow up.

WTH is wrong with you?! Coming out is a very important life event for a lot of gay people! It's not a mere "announcement," but a confirmation of something very deep and life changing: finally embracing WHO you are! It's not about "sex"!!!!

A SEX partner? You think just because OP is gay that means his partner is only for sex? Your comment is not very clear but that's what it looked like to me.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are like him. They don't think about the people, they think about the sex. A lot of people are perverts.

I came out and used Facebook (due to not living close to much of my friends and family), but I linked to my personal blog. Sure, someone might hack your Facebook, but to hack your Facebook AND blog, that's something else entirely. Anyway, I hope your friends and family do take you and your partner seriously, OP. We shouldn't be afraid to love.

You should be proud by your own courage! I have several friends who are too scared to openly admit their sexuality to family members, so I understand how hard it is. Good luck OP, ignore the haters and I hope you are and your partner are very happy together :)

It's fun because once you get past the whole "I like people of the same sex" thing, NOTHING is awkward anymore.

I don't understand why it's everyone's bussiness to know if you are gay or not. It is your life, not theirs. It is nice to be able to not have to hide it true, but sometimes it is better to do so. I hope that you don't get a lot of hate for this, too many people think just because you are gay you are a horrible, demonic person. Don't let their hate push you off either, be true to yourself! You have someone who loves you and you love. I wish you two the best!

That is something you do in person otherwise responses may vary as you can see. Facebook isn't built for intimate moments like that. And that is something you restrict to telling your family and friends. Not all FB friends are friends cause odds are you worry very little about what they think. I hate to say this but you're going to have to do that all over again.
