Congrats…
Today, I almost got married. After the elaborate and very expensive wedding, my "husband" decided he did not want to sign the marriage license because he wasn't sure if he really wanted to settle down after all. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, after months of arguing and conflict, I broke up wIth my fiancé. Or at least, I tried to. The wedding's off, but only until he can convince me to want to marry him again. FML
Today, I married the love of my life. I was ecstatic until the wedding reception, where my new husband got drunk and started crying about how he'd been "forced" into marrying me. FML
Today, my fiancé told me that he was having second thoughts on our engagement. Instead of just calling it off, he took me to a fancy restaurant and took a public poll on whether we should get married. The majority said no. FML
Today, I was in the car with my boyfriend. After telling him how much I loved him, he asked me to marry him. When I said yes and started crying, he said he wasn't sure if he really wants to get married. FML
Today, I asked my fiancé if we could get legally married at the courthouse before we had the big wedding ceremony, just to quell my irrational fear of being left at the altar. He agreed, then didn’t show up at the courthouse. Nightmare realized. FML
Today, while talking on the phone with my long-distance boyfriend, he let me know that he was getting married in August to "some girl" for his papers. After I objected, he told me, "Well, you can marry me if you want." I'm not sure if I just got dumped or proposed to. FML
Today, my boyfriend admitted he didn't want to marry me, not because he doesn't want to spend his life with me, but because he'd seen two friends get ruined by divorce settlements, and he "doesn't want my hooks in him." I love him with all my heart and would never dream of pulling a marriage con. FML
Today, I got married to the man I love even though my whole family told me not to marry him. He got into a drunken fight at our wedding and is now in jail. He apparently won't be getting out any time soon due to charges I didn't know about. FML
Today, I found out the man I've been wanting to marry for a year and a half wants us to take a break. FML
Today, at our wedding, instead of saying "I do", my fiancé paused before saying, "I can't do this", stepped down from the altar and proposed to my maid of honor. When she obviously refused, he ran from the venue bawling. He's not returning my calls. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?

He might have saved you trouble in the future. If that's how he felt, but signed the liscense, you guys might have gotten divorced anyway a few years from now. And, hey, you guys can always make it official later if he does finally decide to commit.... if you're still together, that is. ;)

Now that you've got the bigassed wedding you always wanted out of the way, you can concentrate on finding somebody worth marrying.

I call fake on this. Speaking as someone just married 2 years ago. First of all to all of those saying "the ceremony means squat", you are incorrect. In order to legally be recognized and validated as a married couple, two things. The Justice/Judge/Priest/w.e. MUST sign the certificate or else it is Null and Void. You also MUST have witnesses sign said certificate. The person performing the ceremony does not sign this until AFTER the ceremony. HOWEVER. BOTH married persons MUST sign the certificate before the ceremony can even be performed. This is a FACT. So while yes, the husband can back out like the FML, he can not decide AT the wedding not to sign something he was required by to law sign a week prior, because specifically in Ohio, there is a 5 day waiting period before you can even receive your (signed) license, which you WOULD HAVE signed 5 days prior. No certificate, no ceremony. They would have needed said certificate (which she claims he refused to sign) to even hold the ceremony in the first place. This certificate would have been signed by both parties already. So again... you get a YDI for a fake FML.

I know it's been a while since anyone commented on this, but #111 is really bugging me. Different states have different rules about who signs the marriage license and when. I've been married three years and my husband and I didn't sign the license. In our state only the priest/judge/whatever and two witnesses have to sign, and that's after the ceremony. So calling this a fake based on your own personal experience is stupid. I honestly think there are people that just get off on claiming everything is fake.

In Aust you have to sign something on your wedding day. And I am so sorry for what happened to you that's terrible.

I would pretend to be ok with it, and leave at a convenient time. He can't be trusted
