This FML is from back in 2016 but it's good stuff
San Antonio, United States
Casual
Today, I had to politely nod and say, "Ah, OK…" as my grandpa told me that he's not racist; he just doesn't think it's right for black men to associate with white women. He's well aware that my boyfriend is black. FML

Why couldn't you politely tell him that you absolutely don't agree and in the future, you will be more comfortable if he keeps his racist thoughts to himself?

What a moron! Everybody knows the TRUE measure of racial tolerance is how many friends of other races you have.

That's probably why he said it. The passive-aggressive approach is a common tool when family members want to criticize an SO. Try to take pleasure in brushing them off and following your heart. If you do it right, it might even annoy them more than their words are annoying you.

Are we to automatically assume that you're a white woman?

Everybody commenting here is acting superior as hell. It bothers me. You are mostly ignorant young people whose opinion on race came from your dumbass liberal teachers from community colleges. How about showing a little respect for your elders, or is that something of the past?

As a half black guy with a black dad and white mom and girlfriend, I don't like your grandfather

Well grandpa since you're not racist I really don't feel it's appropriate that you say racist things like that. People might talk. We wouldn't want that.
