Awkward small talk

Today, I went to my boyfriend's house, intending to break up with him. Instead, I was greeted by his whole family throwing me a surprise party. I had to sit and listen to his whole family talk about what a great couple we are and how we're going to last forever. FML

Little do they know..

You better get to that break-up soon! The longer you wait, the more they'll believe your relationship WILL last forever.

I hope it changed your mind, It would have for me!

How could this change OP's mind? It might guilt her a little but she should still go through with it. You would really stay in a relationship because some people want you to? She wanted to break up and this is only making it harder than it has to be

A surprise party would change your mind about breaking up with your boyfriend? What the ****

I know you were just trying to be polite, but you really should have let them know you were breaking up with him before the whole shindig started.

It was a surprise party, so the whole shindig started as soon as she arrived.

Should've said "Surprise! Forever is shorter than you think!" And awkwardly just backed out the door.

Wow, that blows. I'm sorry that you feel awful, but it is best to break up with him sooner rather than later, because while it may hurt him, it's worse to lead him on. Also, I commend you for actually wanting to breakup with him face-to-face. Even though it is more difficult, it is better than getting a text. Good luck, OP.

Try giving him a second chance maybe things will work out

That's assuming he's done something wrong. Someone can be lovely, just you fall out of love, one of you changes, or they're just not the one.

Did your boyfriend also happen to propose to you during this party?

That's just awkward

Ugh it's extremely hard to break up when you've built relationships with his/her family members.
